The reason why I "hate" on the Madden dev team is simple, there lazy. They don't fix things, they counter them with something usually just as broke, but since it looks good on the stat sheet, people don't care. If your going to buy an exclusive license, you have a responsibility to make a half way decent game, something that they haven't done since the PS2 days. There is no competition, so theoretically, EA can put out what they wish. Lets be hbonest, atleast 75% of people who buy Madden will buy it again in 10, no matter what. Just the way it is.

On top of that both lead designers lied to me multiple times in 09 and 10.

Thats another part of the problem. The benefit of the doubt has gotten most people about 260 dollars of money spent on some far below average games. Im some peoples opinions. If everyone continues to give the benefit of the doubt. Will we ever get these things fixed. I for one have been saying maybe next year for about 4 years now. Guess I should have been smarter and just rented first so its really my fault lol.

Its funny because I get that same knot in my stomach from people that post about how everyone should stop complaining and from the people that post to complain. I think people have a right to their opinions.

The majority of people are jaded by the failures of the past and that is reasonable. But there are a number of people who simply post criticisms simply to stir the pot and that's what needs to stop again though for the most part the posts are on point.

As far as giving Ian and new team goes, I don't think they'd ask for the benefit of the doubt nor do they deserve it. As has been stated in this thread, they've been given that benefit of the doubt for 4 years. You can't ask us to forget about those games because there's a new guy in charge but I'll say this much. I don't think EA's past struggles have been do to lack of hard work or laziness due to lack of competition, I think its been a failure of execution and that's what a new team can fix so hopefully they do.

Well you kinda answered your own question so to speak. The fact is that most demos still have bugs and glitches that the final version does not have. So before you truly judge the game play the final version. You don't have to buy it, that's why Gamefly, Blockbuster, and other video stores exist.

Re: People give the DEVELOPERS of Madden props for TRYING to make the game better.

The facts that players still glide on the ground like it's an ice-rink during the end-play cut-scenes, QBs crouch getting ready to block after throwing the ball, tronn-jogging, and horrible running animations are still in the "2k5 killer" quirks me.

Madden NFL 10 improved presentation drastically, prettied up the graphics (again), and polished up certain gameplay and franchise mode aspects. That is great.

Unfortunately, they forgot to polish up the gameplay. Five years, now, of horrible running animations isn't worth $60. Five years of tronn-jogging is unacceptable. Five years of terrible logic with player interaction is unacceptable. Five years of QBs STILL not having proper DROP BACKS, not throwing animations, but DROP BACKS (specifically bouncing more), is unacceptable.

Sure, I may buy Madden this year, but that's mostly because I know some of my friends will be, and I will look passed the game's problems to have fun with my friends.

But, trust me. If Madden NFL 11 has ANY, and I do mean ANY, of the problems I listed in this post, I will write Madden off forever.

I'm giving Ian and crew the benefit of the doubt this year. I'll bite into the "well this is the first year" talk, but next year BETTER be different.

I'm not a 2k fanboy. I'm not a Madden fanboy. I'm an NFL fan. I'm a gamer. I just want a game that plays JUST LIKE the NFL. I don't care if EA is slapped on the cover, I don't care if 2k is slapped on the cover. Just deliver a damn realistic sim game. It's the year 2009 for crying out loud.

I agree for the most part. It wasn't that long ago when reports were coming out that EA ran sweatshop-like conditions. I think the lack of competition also factors into their development strategies though. I've read Ian and others more than casually throw out references to pushing/implementing certain features in [next year's] games, before the current one is even out - a luxury most developers don't have.

Re: People give the DEVELOPERS of Madden props for TRYING to make the game better.

The present development team can't be held accountable for the trash that was next gen Madden the past few years. But like a CEO who takes over a struggling company, popular discontent built up over the years directed at you comes with the territory.

Here's the salient point, though: from all indications (demo, previews/write-ups, videos, et al.), Madden 10 will be LIGHT YEARS better than 09 in EVERY CATEGORY. The improvements seem to be MASSIVE. Any sports game that improves this much (speculating/hoping, of course) in one development cycle shows that QUALITY is the focus (finally...).

As a franchise guy who never plays online, I can say that the improvements made to franchise mode have me absolutely psyched. Finally, an immersive user interface for franchise geeks...
