Pretty much. There'd be a lot more interest built up if there was greater coverage of the NFL and some coverage of the BAFL along with it. Only reason my mates have heard of our domestic league is because I play in it.

Its 10x more entertaining that football (soccer) and theres a ton more strategy involved than Rugby. Did help that when I was very young it was at its height over here (late 80sn early 90s) and I used to watch NFL Blitz on Channel 4 early mornings.

Ended up getting into it enough to start playing and now I'm completely obsessed. I happily pay out for a season pass for the Live games on NFL.com
