winning isnt the issue. I also understand there will be big plays and that is fine too. But it seems like the big plays are excessive.

i would like to figure out a way to make the cpu go on long drives rather then getting a pick 6. Maybe the speed threshold is what i need to look at raising

Yeah I agree with this - you can be having a solid field battle with the CPU, low scoring, field goals, gritty touchdowns.. then all of a sudden, you get a pick 6 each, the CPU busts a 90 yard TD run out of a 3rd and 25 situation..... and you go from a tight 10-3 game to something like 42-28!

I had a game (rare in this case) that scored 72-60... now that was not cheesing or anything, I lost that game... but using Bills v3 have been good for me, until this mad game where scores just happened on every drive. And it wasnt a well worked drive, each team would bust a huge play, or score from a turnover and it was just a crapshoot.

Unless EA makes two games or gives control to the player with an uber amount of sliders that can not only change the success/fail rate of a given elemant of the game but can also change the physics (player response time to user input, passing accurancy, eleminate player momentum to name a couple) the complaining will never stop.
It wouldn't need to do so if they had a real physics engine, actually tried to mimic the NFL as close as they could (EA only tries to out do its last years game instead on trying to replicate actual football), Update instead of tweak the Madden AI, and I can go on and on......... They need not to try to make everyone happy instead give respect to the beautiful game that is NFL Football!!!!!

Initially I was getting too many big plays, but I have managed to get it down to a much lower level this week.

I have found that taking break tackles for both humans and cpu down to 0 has helped. You'll need to adjust the other sliders though to compensate for the reduced running game though.

I play with speed threshold 50 as well.
Hope that is helpful. Good luck.

Also hopefully Ian Cummings will fix the pursuit angle issue in the second patch - he did post on this trying to ascertain people's experiences so at least EA should be now aware it is an issue.

Fixing pursuit angles should also cut down on big plays.

The big plays haven't been an issue for me. They are happening at a realistic rate. I'm pretty content with my slider setup.

I find the game more realistic if you turn up blocking for runs and have tackling in the mid range and break tackles lower. Its a fine line everyone plays different. Try Playmakers sliders I like them, they don't break to many big plays on me, no more than in a normal game.

Re: any suggestions on reducing the CPU Big plays?

I just watched that entire video, really exposed all madden for a joke and I would venture to bet that all-pro is similar. And I think the part where welker and galloway where playing off line, I think they blocked Jacksonville because New England is programed to win 99% of the time. I personally play with Jacksonville in my offline franchise and have problems doing anything productive at times on all-pro level against the top-tier teams. Specifically running the ball at times is impossible because the def is on top of you before you can even make 1 move. It also goes back to the progression issues people had on here, as far as only the good coaches bestowing any progression on your players. It applies to actual games too, because Bellicheck gives the entire team a +5 awr witch is ok with me but it helps explain this video somewhat.

That video is practice mode right, im sure that is the practice field. But it is the same in the regular season games too.

Good Video.
