How to Make Madden 10 Challenging

this is a creative list, but I hate the idea of limiting what types of plays I can call because the CPU AI isn't good enough to handle certain situations. I feel like you can get a good level of challenge from the sliders alone, considering they can go an entire level above All-Madden if you're ambitious.

I let Madden pick my play for me.

However, I do not use the easy mode. Reason being, I allow myself to pick one of the three plays once per series. I also allow myself one audible per series as well.

On defense and special teams, I agree with not allowing yourself to do anything. All I do is 'show blitz' to put 8 in the box at times. And KR/PR should be automatic.

Play the game like superstar mode. You are the QB, and your coach will get mad if you pick your own plays and audibles too often.

Then, on defense, I just play with a certain player all game.

By making all these "house rules" and limiting yourself to what you can do during the game, you are completely eliminating things that make football what it is. Not shifting linemen? are you serious? You just need to try more slider settings before you resort to this crap, if I have to stop doing everything you listed above in order to have a challenge, I would not play the game anymore. The game you are playing is not football anymore. There is no way in hell I could enjoy it limiting myself to what I can use. I use a variation of vbaihav3p's sliders, and I get an awesomely challenged game, where there are no house rules and it takes everything in my arsenal to win. I always played on all madden and would put up 50-60 points a game, now the past few games ive had, I've been in the teens, 20's and reached into the 30's, and this is with 12 minute quarters.

On offense, does this mean you don't control the other ball carriers? Say you did a handoff - do you not control the HB?

On defense, I do the same - it's a very good way to play.

True, you can, but then Madden no longer represents a real game of football. Blocking is unrealistic, defensive defies the laws of physics, and DBs are all granted the gift of second sight. You can make Madden challenging by only using the sliders, but you can't make it challenging AND realistic. It's simply not possible due to faulty gameplay and poor AI. All the sliders in the world do not improve the play calling AI, the QB play AI, or improve the physics, momentum, or footwork of players.

This list was put together for the folks who want to enjoy realistic play and a challenge at the same time. I'll update the main post to call this out explicitly.
