bulking up?

i think it would be a cool feature if we could have players either gain or lose weight. we see it all the **** in the league, so adding a feature like this would make the game much more realistic.

if a player gains weight, their strength, injury, etc. would increase, but their speed, agility, etc. might decrease a little. and vise versa if they lose weight.

discuss.

Re: bulking up?

2k5 had it and I liked making my running backs gain weight to become stronger.

In some cases I would say that when a player gains weight, maybe during the offseason, all of his ratings take a hit. A la Jamarcus Russell. I guess this would be due to a work ethic rating which I would love to see instead of a potential rating.

In last-gen Maddens you could change a players weight, though it had no effect on his ratings whatsoever, for some reason we've been locked out of that feature in current gen games.

Re: bulking up?

In APF2K8 the players weight / height / body type directly affected their speed / acceleration and power. You could not modify it however once it was set. And there was no franchise to see a change in.

Re: bulking up?

True that. Although I think players bulking up is more prevalent in college. Almost everyone that comes into their freshman year is below the typical weight for their position. It would be great for position changes and stuff.

Re: bulking up?

It would be good, but it would need a great deal of nuances. For instance, the Ravens asked Paul Kruger to gain weight and he's in that process right now. However, he's taking it slow because he does not want to sacrifice speed and explosion.

There are a lot of nuances that occur here. Some players gain weight (muscle weight) and they have their own trainers. Some players remain at their team facility and work with the trainers there. Some players are just undisciplined and gain weight (FAT).

The prior two gain weight, but are in shape. The latter gains weight and is out of shape, undisciplined and doesn't give a damn ala JaBustus Russell.
