Madden 12 Question

Although I hope it doesn't come to this, everyone is predicting a NFL lockout that could last into next season. This got me thinking, would EA be able to release Madden despite the lockout, or would they have to wait until the labor dispute is resolved?

I would think they could and would release it...why should they lose money????

They could simply use the current rosters and leave all the free agents as free agents, at least in franchise. You could then put guys on teams or let the cpu do it.

Or they could use the current roster with no one becoming a free agent.

Whatever they do a patch would fix it when the two sides settle.

I don't see why it should effect anything. Rosters seem to be the easiest thing for them to fix.

NHL released a game during their lockout so my guess would yes they would still release the game.

Yeah but the NHLPA didnt disperse during the lockout. If the NFLPA disperses it might be difficult to create a game with NFL players likenesses.

A lockout would definitely s*ck.

If it happens, Madden would be our only source of NFL football......

I don't meant to sound negative about the game, but c'mon, ANY video game of football being the only option of getting my NFL fix would s*ck. There's no substitute for the real thing.

I hope somehow, someway the players and owners get their stuff together and come to an agreement soon. But it's looking pretty bleak at this point.

Back on topic-----M12 will probably still be released. But I wouldn't care if there's no real football being played, except at the college level.

I think if the NFLPA disbands, they would have to go to each individual player in the game in order to get their likeness. It might make things more difficult to release the game. They could always just get the main starters and not have injuries or fatigue, but backbreaker proved that it sucks.

Not likely to happen.. They (EA) wouldn't even pursue this option. If i lookout occurs no one expects it to last very long. Too much $$ involved.
