I think this is such a terrible idea. Clutch shouldn't matter. Guys aren't really clutch, they have just as much of a chance making a game winning TD in the fourth as they did in the first. It is just like calling Kobe clutch, no not really he has the same fg % for the last shot of the game as he does the rest of his shots.

Good idea. Some players gets better the more pressure it is on them. Adam Vinatieri for example. Not a fantastic kicker, but a great clutch kicker.

I know that talks about baseball but same things apply. You can't judge someone on clutch because they do something that they normally do a couple times in pressure situations.

So...we're ragging on EA for having a clutch rating now? Anything to complain about I guess.

Madden isn't going to be the first sports game with a clutch rating, it was already in MLB The Show.

Ben Roethlisberger. Somewhat above average QB all year long, turns into an untacklable machine that somehow knows that that back who was supposed to block fell down and is now wide open once the playoffs roll around.

Don't tell me there's no such thing as clutch.

I essentially agree with you (though I would argue that some players [i]are/[i] clutch - they are just much rarer than people make out.

Anyway the point you are making is essentially a statistical one, and the bottom line is if the vast majority of football fans "believe" (for want of a better word) in a clutch factor, then it will be put in the game.

Re: Video - Donny Moore discusses dymanic ratings

That is like saying Michael Jordan wasn't clutch during the playoffs or late game situations during the 90s. Or that John Elway wasn't clutch in the 4th quarter. Or that Reggie Jackson wasn't clutch in the post season for the Yankees.

Some people in sports are clutch in the playoffs or when the game is on the line. To me it is long over due for football games to have a clutch rating.
