I don't think they will be stupid enough to put a big visible "wedge" on screen like the vision cone. And besides, this seems to be more about AI controlled players.

True, it will be an "under the hood" feature, so users will never see any vision cones or maps. According to what I've read, the only thing that affects users are in terms of accuracy when you attempt to make a pass to a player outside the vision map - other than that it only affects the CPU AI.

I haven't given too much thought as to exactly how a players vision should be implemented into a football game, but I can tell you it's a huuuuuuuge element of real football. I think a good starting point that could and should be implemented today would have the receivers buttons disappear everytime a QB isn't facing downfield (running backwards, animations where he breaks a tackle), and then when he gets to facing downfield again, the receivers should all be under different buttons.

This would be outstanding for AI user and CPU, but not for user controlled players. Especially user passing.

There will always be complainers, but if they reduce the effectiveness of deep drop backs and scrambling and hundreds of thousands of gamers complain about having to change playing style, that doesn't mean that those complain should be viewed as purely negative, in my opinion.

Also I don't think you can compare this to the vision cone as it doesn't pop up in your face and increase the difficulty of playing the game. The main problem with the vision cone on last-gen was that most people found it confusing or disturbing and it often resulted in them getting sacked.

If they introduce an invisible vision map, then the only gameplay change people would notice is that they take an accuracy loss if they control a rookie QB, drop back 15-20 yards or scramble a lot.
