Re: Madden 12 Retail Impressions (Gameplay - NO QUESTIONS/DISCUSSION)

Figured before I pass out for the night I would load up the PS3 one more time and make an in depth post on PLAYER TRAITS (i.e. what traits are available, what are the options to choose from, etc.)

Below are each Trait option that each player has, the example below I will use Darrelle Revis as the player and will highlight which one is his trait then put the other options in (______):

Tuck and Run: Rarely (other options are: Sometimes, Often)
Throw Ball Away: No (yes)
Sense Pressure: Trigger Happy (Ideal, Average, Oblivious, Paranoid)
Forces Passes: Aggressive (Conservative, Ideal)
Throws Tight Spiral: No (Yes)
Fights For Extra Yards: No (Yes)
Covers The Ball: Never (Braces against Big Hitters, Brace against Medium Hitters, Braces for all Hits, Always)
Makes Sideline Catches: No (Yes)
Drop Open Passes: No (Yes)
Plays Ball In The Air: Aggressive (Conservative, Balanced)
Big Hitter: No (Yes)
Utilizes Swim Move: No (Yes)
Utilizes Spin Move: No (Yes)
Utilizes Bull Rush Move: No (Yes)
Clutch: Yes (No)
Consistency: 5 (Scale from 1-5 with 5 being the highest, one being the lowest)
Confidence: 3 (Scale from 1-5 - see above)
High Motor: Yes (No)

Note that these are able to edit if you wish under EDIT PLAYER. The example I used was for Revis as already stated, no roster update.

I found a couple of flaws in custom play books that are real annoying and I hope they patch real soon. 1st is the organization of plays. I have to scroll across 5 different shotgun sets, I form, Weak I, you name it... They're not in sequential order like the stock play books we're accustomed too. You really have to 'know your plays' if you're going to run customs. Another thing, it seems like when use CPB's in practice mode half your plays are missing. Was it like this NCAA?? I hope they fix this with a patch cause I plan on strictly using customs.

Finally, any early owners have problem getting online? I'm on PS3 and when I tried to Redeem my online access code I get this error message, "We're sorry but your are not permitted to register and online pass which is required to access all online features." Hope it's because the servers are not available yet for PS3 owners.
yea i was having problems yesterday but today it let me go to put my code in but now it keeps saying code is invalid or something like that. My game came packeged up so hopefully its because they havent actived the codes yet or something so i got the 2day free trail and hopefully my code works soon. Im playing online now.

I have also ran into the problems with cpb. In game the plays you add are not grouped in the other formations already in your playbook. You have to keep scrolling over because they are in a separate window. Also I added about 5 shotgun formations to the bucs playbook but when im picking plays there are about 4 different shotgun windows. 1 for the shotgun formations i already have then the 5 i added are separated into 3 different shotgun windows. This is not only with shotguns but with other formations as well

Re: Madden 12 Retail Impressions (Gameplay - NO QUESTIONS/DISCUSSION)

I've only spent a few minutes with the game, but my initial impressions are positive. Did need to slow speed down to slow. On normal players seemed to move to frenetically. Chargers color pallette finally right, camera work is great, run game and pass game feel very good so far. Commentary is ridiculously bad. Haven't toyed with anything other than 1 quarter of a play now game.

I have never really liked Madden. This could, and I stress could, be the first version of Madden I play for more than a week or so. Need more time with the game.

I still see super LB's. Got a pick that way.

Shove tackling is pretty prominent.

Long bombs seem similar to NCAA12.

Re: Madden 12 Retail Impressions (Gameplay - NO QUESTIONS/DISCUSSION)

I am really enjoying this game except for the defending of the deep pass. Maybe I'm doing something wrong but I hate it when you try and defend a pass and the db does that alligator arm animation. Maybe I should be diving to deflect the pass but the deep ball seems to be the only issue. There also seems to be a problem on XBOX live trying to reorder your depth chart.

I am also loving the comeback route this year. Well done.

I also don't know if the DB shading is working correctly. I will shade a db inside and he does nothing most of the time.

Re: Madden 12 Retail Impressions (Gameplay - NO QUESTIONS/DISCUSSION)

I enjoyed a nice 15 minute quarter game as Dallas against the Skins.

The hitting/contact feels less dramatic and more "weighty" than in the demo to me. I still see those fast, ugly knockdowns, but the are far less frequent it seems. Also, and I know I'm going to be in the minority on this, but the running game looks and feels so good when playing with the broadcast cam. I don't know why, but I enjoy the running much more from this view. Passing down field is still a challenge, but still workable if you watch the safeties pre-snap and just after the snap.

I played around with sliders a bit and they certainly seem to have a more obvious effect than I remember from previous versions. I cranked up pass rush to 99 for both sides and the passing game disappeared...lol...no one could get off anything more than a dump off, and even that was a challenge. Not only did I bust through, but all my AI teammates did as well. I think I had 6-7 sacks in one half and the CPU had 4-5 when I did that.

Passing accuracy had a similar effect, but more on the AI. They couldn't complete anything with it down to zero....so slider play might yield some more precise results, which is good for getting the game play closer to individual wants/needs (not sure how that compares to last year, as I barely played)

Deep passes seem a bit too easy to complete into coverage (default All Pro) and sometimes DBs will randomly just stop and let the pass get completed. Other than that, I've had no real issues and a fun game. Time will tell if it's worth the purchase, but I had a good first experience.
