If it turns out to be an issue, I'll stand corrected. But at this point, it's premature. And yes, I was around when stats were horrible.

Prime example of why I won't be around OS too much as the game releases. I've enjoyed my time with M12. That's not to say that everyone should share in the positive experience. But I'm all but certain there will be several unfounded chicken little moments in the next week or two.
Not a bridge in sight homie. Don't recall saying the sky is falling. Noticed a pet peeve of mine that other OSers share. Heck, I too hope it isn't an issue. Like I prefaced though, I'm kind of a stickler for stats.

I don't know why that other guy was all up in arms over you mentioning that this could be a problem. Like you're off your rocker or something. It is 256 games worth of simulating. That's sets off a little bit of a red flag to me as well.

I don't think they're too bad. Not like the year with over 3 2000 yard rushers.

Don't do that dude.

I'm not up in arms and I'm not implying dude is off his rocker. The basis of my point is that more data should be collected first.

256 games is NOT a small sample size. The guy has reason to be concerned about it.
That's 256 games for the entire league, not 256 games for one player. 16 games is not a big sample size. After you get 3 or 4 seasons like that, it may be an issue

Simulated stats ARE for the ENTIRE league. So the rest of the league doesn't accumulate stats? It's 256 games for a season. The guy was showing the stats generated for the ENTIRE league, not just for the team he controlled. It is a 256 game sample size. That is NOT a small sample size.

Re: Madden 12 Passing Stats: WACK!!

Big stat geek myself and this is really disappointing, although not surprising. I'm pretty sure it was like this last year. EA was under the notion that there stats were just about spot on--they weren't....my guess is they might have cleared up an issue or two and called it a day.

If you can, I would take a look at some of they other issues like sacks and ypc for 2nd running backs and speed backs. To the guy who says that a season isn't a good sample size, Its madden, do you really think the stats are going to fluctuate that much from year to year, or that you will get drastically different results when you simulate a season? Not likely.

They can fluctuate quite a bit or at least they could in the past. I had one year in M07 where Favre ended up going off for 70 TD's (all simulated) to win the MVP but that wasn't the worst part not only was that number ridiculous the next 5 QB's in TD totals were all over 50. They year after that Favre went for 20 while the league leader had 30.

Now I don't expect to see swings like this ever again as 70TDs is just stupid but there is a chance that it was must a down year. Sim a few more years and see if the trend continues then it is clear that there is a problem.

To the guy that said no one had a passer rating over 100, what was the highest passer rating in the league? Having a year over 100 passer rating is a great year and it wasn't that long ago that a 85 passer rating was considered a pretty good year (look at some of the career passer ratings of players who played in the late 80's and early 90's). I understand the game has become a passing game but if the top 3-4 guys have an upper 90 passer rating then I see no problem with that.

EDIT: I just looked at the passing statistics for last year and only 4 QB's had a passer rating over 100 (Brady, Rivers, Rodgers, and Vick) and only one (Brady) was over 102. Rivers came in at 101.8 which could have just as easily been under 100 with one more interception, less yards, etc.
