Agreed that this is an issue, but I guarantee you if it went the opposite way, with the CPU sliding in at the last second with no chance for the user to get in the bid, there would be some ticked off players (even if it was more challenging).

Really, I think if you don't like the system, just exercise restraint - either you don't bid more than you're comfortable with for a particular player, or you cut yourself off from putting in a bid after 10 seconds (which would let the CPU slide in if it so desires).

Not really a big deal, IMO, just can be exploited by a willing user like a lot of other areas in franchise.

I have not seen this answered anywhere. Does anyone have any info on this subject?

Josh Looman has just confirmed to me that you can change the structure of the contract once you have won the bidding war.

@PantherBeast_OS You get to choose how to structure the contract.

Two thoughts on this.

1. Even if you want to, you will not be able to get every player you want. With the timer you are going to miss out on people. Whether it is many or not, it is a step in the right direction.

2. They said they fixed the salary cap this year. This will be the most important thing. You cannot just go bidding everything you have for every big name player. You would not be able to afford it. So you will have to only get players you need.

I was hoping it would reset the last 10 seconds like someone else said but at least it's a great upgrade.

You can't just "outbid everyone" because you're restricted by the salary cap. That strategy would only work a few times.

Re: EASPORTS Quick Clip Madden 12 Free Agent Bidding

I also wanted to mention that this bidding system, along with some other things added to Madden 12, seem like great foundational features, that can be built upon going forward, imo.

Next year, if they add individual player wants and a fantasy football draft-type of adjustable prearranged free agent ranking, this bidding system could be awesome for the hopefully upgraded Online franchise in Madden 13.

Imagine being able to prearrange your target free agents in an Online franchise and have it automated to bid up to a certain amount, even if you couldn't be there for the live bidding.

On second thought, that's more like an auction bot than fantasy football draft but I think I made my point. lol

Re: EASPORTS Quick Clip Madden 12 Free Agent Bidding

So basically this means that Free Agency this year will ONLY put emphasis on who bids the most money.

No players are going to take a pay-cut to play for a contender. How good a team is, how big that team's market is, how good a coach that team has, etc will not matter at all this year.

Sad, because I remember back on the PS2 that each player had different scales for how much each of the above things mattered to them and how much it would influence their likeliness to sign with a team.

Very very disappointing to me :/

Also, the whole "bidding system" and the time limit are INCREDIBLY unrealistic. Only certain players (who only care about the money) go to whatever team pays the most. Most players will go to X team because of how good that team is or other things that would influence them.

The bidding system is a major negative in my eyes.
