Re: Is Madden the answer this year for football gaming?

I think this year's madden is almost impossible to get an honest opinion on, people absolutely have to try the demo at least.

Crowd noise and terrible commentary can kill this game for some people.

The OF draft, scouting and preseason cut days make this game great to some people.

Custom playbooks, Dynamic players and individual coverage can make head to head a lot of fun.

bad ol/dl interactions, bad wr/db catch animations and unrealistic tackles can be comical at times and make this game seem unplayable to some.

The game has good, bad and ugly everywhere. It just depends on what is important parts of it to you.

I don't think its the answer and truly will never be. I mean for the most part the game has been running the same engine for over 10 years, you would think as Big as a company as EA is they should have a master piece by now, but nope I have not found it in this years game and IMO there not even close. Oh well.

And IMO NCAA is better this year to me, but of course I'm an NFL Fanatic so I will be forced to keep Madden to get my NFL Fix. Its not terrible or bad, but its just not where it should be after 20 years. Just my honest opinion.

Re: Is Madden the answer this year for football gaming?

for the first time ever, i love and enjoy BOTH football games this year and im not even into college football like that. NCAA is a great game. i only had 1 in game freeze in my offline dynasty so maybe im lucky.

madden 12 is clearly to me, the best version this gen. i love the gameplay and AI. im not bothered by the commentary. the only thing is i wish madden had the crowd noise and the custom sounds that NCAA had. if it did i would be in hog heaven lol.

Re: Is Madden the answer this year for football gaming?

I got Madden on release day, and it's been sitting on a shelf pretty much since then. I moved back to NCAA. It has it's problems, but as a whole, the dynasty mode is much more enjoyable and suffers from significantly less problems than Madden's franchise as of right now. I can have a very enjoyable dynasty/franchise experience in NCAA controlling 1-team, but that's just not possible with Madden at this point.

I wouldn't say Madden is worse this year, but I am much more disappointed with the game than I have been in a long time. The hype for franchise was high this year, but the draft classes are screwy yet again (though in different ways), the AI logic is horrendous, and "the preseason matters" in the sense that it destroys any hope of realistic roster moves in the preseason and renders some high draft picks as null and void.

If you've got to play an NFL game, Madden isn't terrible by any stretch, but if you're a fan of college and pro equally, I'd roll with NCAA for now. That's my take.

I gamefly'd it, the only reason why I still allow this game in my household is because there is nothing else to play for a few more weeks.

Re: Is Madden the answer this year for football gaming?

It's the first Madden I have enjoyed in almost a decade. First time in forever i am playing Madden more than I am playing NCAA.

That being said it may not be your cup of tea, so I suggest a rental or at least try the demo to get a feel for it.

I honestly will have to say No. The game has a lot of work to do. It's football season and I am still playing NBA 2K11...

Re: Is Madden the answer this year for football gaming?

M12 is easily the best Madden that I've played on any generation of console, on-the-field. Likely the best complete package football game as well, though it's too early to say on that one as I really enjoyed M10 (360) and M07 (PS2).
