Re: Official Countdown to Madden 13 Thread

While there were some 89's that I enjoyed watching play, like Tai Streets, there weren't any greats.

I used to use Tai in the slot in Madden a lot, and even when he was released and went to Detroit in Madden 03, I traded to get him back. My friend and I ran a Falcons/Texans Franchise in Madden 03 that went 4 full seasons. In it I traded for Streets and Frank Wycheck.

Wycheck was a beast, and one of my favorite active TEs at that time.

he will forever be remembered as the man who threw the "lateral" in the Music City miracle.

Yes, Lorenzo Neal and Frank Wycheck! Beast!

Well, I know we are really on 88...

So the late Freddie Solomon

... and Isaac BRUUUCE

^@PG - Man, that's a strange look seeing Bruce in that 9er uniform. Almost forgot that he got his 1000th reception with them.

Re: Official Countdown to Madden 13 Thread

John Mackey

You'll get many claims to the throne of greatest tight end ever. Gonzalez is certainly worthy. Winslow is another... Newsome... Ditka evolved the position into that of an offensive weapon... but the top dog may very well be John Mackey. Drafted with the #2 overall pick in 1963, he was the first truly athletic tight end with power and breakaway speed. He scored 6 career touchdowns of over 50 yards. The longest being an 89 yarder.

Tough, and durable, he missed only 1 game in 10 years, and became the prototype for the position. Hall of Fame class of 1972. The second tight end ever elected.

Charlie Sanders

The first of the collegiate basketball playing tight ends and a forgotten great at the position.

Marvin Harrison

So quiet and unassuming the way he carried himself that you could almost forget that it wasn't that long ago that Marvin Harrison was one of the best wide receivers on the planet. A smooth and precise route runner with long speed with - for my money - the best pair of hands in the league. To me, he as much as anyone, deserves credit for the development of the young Peyton Manning.

14580 career receiving yards - 5th All Time
128 career receiving TDs - 5th All Time
Hall of Fame Class of ????
