I agree with PG's views on progression. If you could turn anyone into a great player, why are we scouting at all? The whole draft becomes pointless. This is a gamekiller for me, but I'm ok for skipping this year's version.

@kwplt you can't take any player and make them a superstar. they have to be put in the right situations. the right system and good coaching produce progression in real life. and those effects are simulated in game by bonuses to xp gains. if you draft a low rated guy that doesn't fit your system, he won't progress very well.

Nowhere near a gamekiller if you understand what it means.

So they scrapped DPP after one year?

I just feel that aspect was a good idea. I always felt ratings should increase/decrease not just week to week but qtr/qtr.... Then carry over.

I just feel they started over for no real reason then to just start over.

I still don't understand the decision of CC at all...

DPP is still in the game and you can use earned XP to upgrade things like player consistency and, by spending a considerable amount of XP, upgrade traits from unfavorable ones to more favorable ones (i.e. upgrade "drop open passes" from "Yes" to "No").

Because it's not as easy to progress everyone into a superstar like people are making it out to be. If you draft a 59 in the first round versus an 80 it's going to take forever for that 59 to progress up to the 80 that the other guy already is and was.

Three functions of scouting in CCM of M13 include finding the players with higher initial ratings (so less time is needed to develop them), finding those players that fit your system (this provides a bonus for XP gain), and finding out traits of individual players (completely invisible in M12's scouting process unless you invited a player to an individual workout right before the draft, IIRC).

The potential system was much more realistic, it just needed to be tweaked. Now you can just take that low rating, high speed guy and turn him into Randy Moss by pumping up his hands ratings. No incentive to actually scout the next Randy Moss.

The Potential ratings should have been tied to coaching, to make coaches worth a damn. If you get yourself a good coach like a Bill Belichick or a Jim Harbaugh, your players have a better chance of developing and turning into these gems. If you have a bad coach like a Mike Singletary, then your players have less chance of progressing.
Potential is gone, the closest thing now is xp is ties to system. Iea big arm qb won't earn as much xp in the west coast offense. So the player has to be in the right system to really flourish. Just because you draft a guy who looks good doesn't mean he will perform well on the field in the wrong system. It's not as black and white as you are assuming.

That is absolutely incorrect. YOU CANNOT just take any player and make him a stud. 1.). That player MUST fit your system, 2). You must earn enough XP to get him to that level
