I'd say that would be the case, but what you could do is check with other players in your league if they want to play on a separate team and then switch with them.

Players asking for trade's would be very good, they have it in FIFA where if you neglect a player & keep him on the bench he'll get annoyed & eventually ask for a transfer. It's not perfect though as they don't quite understand form but I would love to see this in Madden this season or next, it just will need to be tuned a bit from FIFA's system which isn't perfect yet.
