Re: what is a fair trade for mjd?

I'd have to agree. 28 is not young at all for a running back, a position where a "career" is considered five years. When you add in his physical style I think the twilight of his career is coming up. Then again, you have to remember Madden isn't real life. In Madden, an elite back is worth much more than in the actual NFL, and 28 isn't too old. Madden also doesn't take into accounts how many hits a player takes, where, and how he runs. He could very well play for another 6 years in Madden with limited regression. It all boils down to how much a team needs a feature back. In real life, anything more than a third round is stretching it, you'd be better off spending a 2nd/1st finding a back to develop, and you can probably find one that can be serviceable day 1. However, in Madden, I could see a 1st making sense. If I were coaching maybe the Patriots in a couple of years with Brady about to retire I'd consider dropping a first.

Good post 8mile. His Madden value is completely different from real life value.

Re: what is a fair trade for mjd?

I agree that his Madden value is a lot different than real-life value.

I think I am in 2018 in my CCM and MJD is still producing and moving up the all-time rushing list. He may even break Emmitt Smith's records if he stays in the league a couple more years. And this is all CPU controlled. I don't control him or the Jags.

But the way I look at these questions is mixing "video game value" and "real-life value". I feel like a 2nd and 3rd is a pretty good and fair trade for MJD. He is great in real-life and in the game, but he has a lot of wear and tear on him and he has basically been carrying the Jags on his back his whole career. 28 is already getting up there in age for a running back but I think it is even more the case for MJD.
So you have questions about his health, how long he has left, and his contract needs. I agree with a previous post that you will likely be paying way too much for him when he is past his prime. These are all things the game doesn't take into consideration (i think), but I take it into consideration when someone asks for a fair/realistic trade.

So I am alright with a 2nd and 3rd... but it also depends on both of the teams needs and money available. I would be fine if everyone else thought 2 2nds... but I wouldn't go to a first rounder. First rounders are meant to be players that will be a solid/star/franchise player on your team for YEARS. MJD can only be that player for so long.

So after all of that... I would probably say a 2nd + 3rd for real life value and 2 2nd's for real-life/video game value.

Re: what is a fair trade for mjd?

Despite being close to the cutoff point for HBs, he's only eclipsed the 300 carry mark twice, so his legs should be comparatively fresh. His YPC is very high, which also suggests good legs.

HOF backs seem to last between 2,700 and 3,000 carries for their careers. MJD is at 1,500 right now. So I'd say that for a team who is one player away, he would be a legitimate option, more so than someone like Steven Jackson, who is already at 2,400 carries.

With that in mind, perhaps a 2 and a conditional 5 or two 3rd rounders in consecutive years, something like that.
