Re: Official Madden 25 E3 Video Thread Part 2

I've seen enough videos (appreciate it!) to know I'm passing on this. Looks the same to me as 13..

I don't have the money for a PS4 either, so it looks like I be done with the series.

It was a good run though....

Re: Official Madden 25 E3 Video Thread Part 2

I randomly clicked on one of those videos and the first thing I saw was the running back getting "tackled" by a linebacker "big hit" where the LB just throws his shoulder into the RB, who gets knocked on his back.

It happened again the next play.

This animation has plagued Madden for years and just makes me cringe when I see it. Runningbacks going into a hole do not go down this way. They may get knocked back, but they don't fall on their backs.

Only in rare, rare circumstances will this happen, and when it does, it's a major event (Atwater-Okoye comes to mind). Most of the time the RB gets stopped or slowed until other defenders get there and take him down or stop forward momentum.

Runningbacks always brace for a hit when a guy is bearing down right in front of them.

Ask yourself how many times you see a linebacker make a head-on tackle where he remains standing up after the play?

Stupid, stupid, stupid....happens way too often and is the equivalent of seeing ten to fifteen 360 degree dunks in an NBA game.

I can't like this post enough. These are the kinds of things that have garnered the angst from the sim football community. It's very easy to implement this correctly because there is countless hours of footage available for them to see that these types of hits and animations never happen in real life. This is what kills the immersion for most of us. They need to get rid of these types of things in next gen, or Madden will continue to be considered second class to the other sports games. There really is no excuse for these types of things to still be plaguing the series at this point and especially for next gen.

Exactly why I will NEVER appreciate or like the NFL blitz stick...err um, the hit stick.

Good to see some engaged player mobility, but it seems to be limited to the playside d-line getting blown off the ball every play.

Re: Official Madden 25 E3 Video Thread Part 2

Is it just me or do those Packers vs 49ers vids look like they might be from a later build than a lot of these other vids. The game looked real polished in those vids. Anyway, I watched all 4 quarters and am liking what I'm seeing ......... relatively speaking. That TD pass to Vernon Davis was awesome and the run game and run blocking look much improved. I feel confident in putting my preorder in for Madden now.

Overall tho, it still looks more like Madden and not real football. Having said that, it does look like the best Madden on current gen, gameplay wise, to date. I'm not gonna even kid myself anymore and talk about skipping Madden this year or waiting til next gen. I know I will be right at Gamestop or Walmart or somewhere on Aug 27 buying Madden whether I have it preordered or not. One thing is for sure, after watching these vids and seeing how far this dev team has brought Madden on current gen, I am very anxious to see what a beta version of next gen madden will look like. I am seriously starting to believe in this dev team. I'm not all the way there yet, but I have definitely seen improvements in the right areas from year to year.
