In my mind, they haven't beaten madden 09 for the original XBox yet for overall gameplay and features. That game was great right out of the box, not much I could complain about at at all. It was challenging and deep and there weren't any major bugs.

I thought they had a really good concept the year that they started assigning roles to guys. If a guy was a 1st round pick he was expected to start within 3 years or he became unhappy, and if you drafted someone else at his position in the 1st round he became unhappy. This is the type of thing that if they built on it, it could avoid the mess that takes place in the off-season in the game

I miss the little things that made 2 player more interesting. They used to care about heads up play.

One example was on misdirection plays like FB fake HB pitch and all play action passes. Watch the video below to see what I mean. Watch as the blue circle and the camera follows the FB as if it were a hand off before the pitch, or the HB on the play action pass.
