Re: Why does the player's overall rating change when I start my career?

[quote=Blue&Gold;2045398353]Yes, but my question is in my CFM I seem to have 2 different ratings for each player within the mode. Looking at my depth chart in game gives a different rating than checking my depth chart within the manage roster tab. Which rating is which? Is that a glitch that it shows 2 different ratings? Thanks for the help[/]

Your question has been answered by several people...but you haven't read all the posts or its not sinking in for you.

ITS NOT A GLITCH. Your in game depth chart ratings are different than the out of the game (at the CF menu) depth chart.

The overal rating in game matches that of a normal "play now" game. I'd call these the raw ratings that only consider a players skills....not with how they fit your team.

EX. Tim Tebow is rated in the lower 70's. I'm playing as the panthers, and to their scheme he is seen as an 81. Mostly due to his mobility. This is just saying that Tebow fits my scheme pretty well, and would be decent at running my scheme/play book. This DOES NOT NEGATE THE FACT HE'S RATED IN THE LOW 70'S!!!!!

Personally I find it annoying. I have to quit out of CF to see rosters before I do any trades. After a few years pass, I'm not sure what Ill do. I've attempted setting my own scheme to fit all my position players/coach....but some players are still low-balled. Some are still bloated. If you want an easy trade got after both defensive ends for the Panthers! They are both around 90's....but seen as 79 and low 80's by the default panthers scheme.

I believe the rating is different 'in game' because that's the only place that the player hot streaks/tendency changes take effect.

I HATED this in Madden 13. Sucks Madden 25 is the same way. Just set the player ratings and be done with it. It used to be this way and it was perfectly fine. Now there are 3 different ratings for the same player and no-one knows what the real ratings are, and just makes it more confusing than it has to be.

They should just have a rating called "current scheme" that has a plus or minus with a number.

Current scheme:
0 (for team/scheme that drafted player)
-2 or +1 (for example) if you change default scheme or player gets traded to another team/scheme, and have that reflected in gameplay but just leave the rest of the ratings alone.

I think you're missing the point. This scheme idea is utilized so CPU ran teams will value appropriate players for what they wish to accomplish. Theoretically it should make free agency much more dynamic as teams address their needs.

I get it in theory but why confuse all us real players? The CPU should do this silently in the background and not make it a ****fest of confusion for us players just so the CPU can value and read things easier. Have the CPU "read" all these attributes that are important to their scheme (pass coverage, etc) instead of altering everything (and confusing everyone) so the CPU only has to read the overall.

Scheme's are not a bad idea, but it's really implemented in a crappy non user friendly way.

There should be a simple Scheme - penalty or bonus rating. You can look down your team and see who fits your scheme and who doesn't. As it is now, we have 3 different ratings (play it now, gameplay pause screen, and in the Franchise player menu. That is just way too complicated and makes zero sense.

The only thing that changes is how the OVR rating is calculated. The OVR is a weighted average which provides an at-a-glance look at the player's skill set and determines a 0-99 grade based on the important ratings for his position. Speed matters more for a wide receiver than a fullback, for example, so a higher Speed rating will have a greater effect on a WR's OVR rating than a FB's OVR rating.

How Connected Franchise changes the OVR rating is that it modifies how heavily different skills are valued based on chosen player scheme. For example, the Cowboys value Cover 2 OLBs this year. As such, the OVR rating calculation will place more emphasis on the Zone Coverage, Press, Speed, and Play Recognition ratings, and less value will be placed on pass rushing skills such as Power Move, Finesse Move, and Block Shedding. The effect is that pass-rushing OLBs tend to receive a lower OVR grade than OLBs with better coverage skills. In essence, the scheme-based OVR is solely intended to be a team-building aid based on how a user prefers to build a football team.

Finally, the OVR rating has zero effect on gameplay, regardless how it is calculated.
This is exactly it. I'm having a very hard time understanding why people can't seem to grasp this.

This is true, Depth chart rating has Hot/Cold Tendency applied. In game is updated weekly Depth Chart in CFM menus may be subject to in game variance.

Manage roster in CFM is base scheme ovr

Re: Why does the player's overall rating change when I start my career?

Just found a big one! Play now Barry Cofield DT (84) but in franchise mode he is a 64.

His scheme is a Base 3-4 and Washingtons defense scheme is Attacking 3-4... his rating shouldn't be that far off from his Play now rating. In fact this year in the Skins defense he'll prob be top 5 NT in the league in the Redskins DEFENSIVE scheme.
