Re: Scripted Miracle Finishes

I've had the AI get picked off on last second Hail Mary attempts a couple of times, and one where they completed it but were taken down at the goalline.

Another one where I caught up to them from behind and tackled them at the 1 to save the day, and then they threw an INT the next play.

Last night's game was amazing though. I'm currently 11-0 in my franchise, and the Panthers take a 3 point lead with 1:55 left. I move down the field and get into field goal range, but since there's still about a minute left, I continue to try to make my way down the field to score a TD to win it. Needless to say, I end up throwing an INT with 50 seconds left. I still have all 3 timeouts though, so the Panthers have to pick up a first down. Cam Newton goes to hand the ball off to DeAngelo but a pulling tight end gets in the way, messing up the play, and forcing Cam to run it himself. One of my linebackers punches the ball loose, and another linebacker scoops it up at the 5 yard line and dives into the endzone for the game-winning score to keep my undefeated season alive.

He did not miss a beat and with the game on the line with 30 seconds to go he hit Julio Jones in what I call my triangle coverage between two defenders for the game winning TD. I can see Matt Ryan passing on me like this, but the back up? The back up only missed on one of his passes. Man I missed the days of APF 2k8 where a bad QB is actually a bad f'ing QB.

Once I knocked Ryan out of the game his passing offense should have taken a nose dive, not stay on the same level/get better.
I definitely haven't had that experience in my games against the CPU.

I knocked Rodgers out of a game after Green Bay had scored on its first 3 drives, with Rodgers completing 11/12 for 3 TDs. BJ Daniels came in and threw 5 INTs, and I won the game something like 63-21.

I also knocked Matt Ryan out of a game, and his backup, Dominique Davis came in and completed 27/30 (I've since tweaked my sliders), but he threw 2 INTs and took 7 sacks (whereas Ryan would unload the ball any time I got even a little bit of pressure on him).

Re: Scripted Miracle Finishes

CPU back ups are COMPLETELY different than user controlled back up QB's.

Against the CPU when a back up comes in I notice a huge difference. Against a user, they're still in control, things like awareness isn't a factor. Of course throwing ratings may be different but let's not get ridiculous on comparisons.

If you user control your safety your going to have nearly the same production no matter who is in there. If you let the CPU control it, you'll notice a big difference between a high/low rated safety.

Re: Scripted Miracle Finishes

You mean like this one that I lost the game on with 2 seconds left?

Thank you JinxBlue76, I meant GiantBlue76, that's exactly what I'm referring to, the football diverting paths like that magic loogie from Seinfeld, lol.

In my experience during regulation, plays like that aren't likely to happen, that ball is either INT or broken up. Man just when I want to give Tiburon some kind of attaboy for Madden, they go and sneak something like this in the game. smh

There is so much wrong with that play that we don't have enough space to discuss it. First off, all 3 players were standing flat footed before the ball was thrown. Second off, Cobb was completely blanketed by not only Prince Amukumara, but Antrel Rolle as well. Third, Cobb puts his arms THROUGH the body of Prince to catch the ball. Fourth, all 3 players do a synchronous jump animation.

This is 100% scripted gameplay. Had that pass been thrown at any other time, it's incomplete or intercepted. However, the game decided that the outcome of the play was going to be a highlight finish - which is exactly the problem with Madden.

How many times have you seen that diving one handed catch animation? I've probably seen it like 50 times already, and I've seen it from TEs, RBs and WRs.

Madden is better this year, but it's still "Madden" and not enough "football".

It is no coincidence that these posts about furby gameplay exist http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cULKosF5iVE

Not quite a full on predetermination but it is ridiculously rubberband/scripted offline and online. I know how you feel because the same bs is in EA's FIFA & NHL franchises. I've been playing video games for 20+ years and longer play sports games because of this.
