Re: Madden NFL 25 Next-Gen Gameplay Trailer and Four More War in the Trenches Videos

These videos show me I'm going to be doing a heck of a lot of qb runs right up the middle. Mack Truck sized holes.

This looks like the same thing we got, only slightly improved here and there. It's obvious they held back with Madden 25 on current consoles, and that is to bad. Nothing I'm seeing in these video's looks like next gen. Looks better then what we have, but that isn't saying much. My mind keeps wondering what NFL2k14 would have been like. Specially after the NBA 2k14 trailer.

I don't like how EA has to talk up features, give them fancy names, etc. Just put out the videos and let the game speak for itself like other games do.

To me these videos are embarrassing. The only redeeming thing about these videos is that they are trying to correct a fundamental football item that they have ignored for the and entire console generation. 2K football had a true pocket and nailed offensive and defense line play over a decade ago and EA needs a next gen console to make it respectable. That is a joke to me. The footwork is still not there and it seems like there is a bunch of sliding to make the line play look better.

It just looks like the defensive line play will be crap now since the offensive lineman are sliding into position to pick up blocks. I can bet that dominant nose tackles will not get a push when they are not double teamed and a single blocker will stop Vince Wilfork just because he slid in front of him. Wilfork will never be handled by one blocker but this system does not appear to respect a dominant bull rush. Nice try at smoke and mirror EA.

Are they focusing on the "right things"? Sure. But, they are not focusing on them in the right way. This "Ignite" engine is pure trash. Why are they still using canned animations? This is supposed to be "next-gen." Maybe my standards are too high, but if backbreaker can come up with a Real-time physics engine, albeit flawed, and All-Pro Football 2K8 can come up with better, more realistic player models and animations however many years ago, then what's EA excuse and why does everyone keep letting them get away with this crap? We are being lied to and misled every year, yet no one does anything about it.

What's the old adage? "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result." EA does the same thing year in and year out and refuses to commit to a true, Real-time physics engine and simulation football and yet a lot of people expect a different result. That is the purely the definition of insanity. Some Madden fans are completely insane.

These videos are not "next-gen" at all and look just like port from a flawed previous-gen "engine." They look terrible, and, to be honest, are completely unacceptable for a next-gen system. Oh, but wait, I can see more mesh holes on the Chiefs jersey and look at all that awesome grass! WOOO!!! So, I guess it must be next-gen then.

This game looks so unrealistic. It looks just like a direct port of the current gen with twitchy, canned animations, players still unrealistically sliding into position with no real, life like movement and things that would never happen in real-life happening in the game because of a lack of a true physics engine.

EA can claim they have a "true" physics engine. But, The Ignite Engine is a physics engine built within an awful, flawed animation system, so, therefore, it cannot be a true physics engine. A true physics engine does not need motion capture for canned animations. This is why we still have scripted outcomes. Until the animations are unscripted and created using figures made through 3D rendering, instead of motion capture, we will never get unscripted outcomes.

Stop claiming this is "sim" football when little to no part of the game is realistic at all besides the jerseys and player names.

And don't get me started on the size of the football and the velocity with which it leaves the QB's hands.

EA and their fanboys are in complete denial. The fact that people still buy this poop is mind blowing.

Sure, it's a cliche, but EA should take heed: "You can't make chicken salad out of chicken s**t." This applies to Madden and all of EA's football games in that they continue to use a flawed, horrible animation system that should have died out with the PS2 and then try and improve on that outdated, unimaginative technology and try to make chicken salad out of it by just increasing the animation threshold of the people in the trenches. That's not next-gen, that's manipulating an already pathetic and flawed engine.

Stop falling for the garbage. If this is the best we can get, then fine, I don't need to play a football game. I've had it with being lied to, misled and not listened to. So, EA doesn't get my money. I literally canceled my pre-order for madden in favor of watchdogs for ps4. EA doesn't deserve a cent of anything I've earned until they make a product worthy of my purchase. This crap they keep hyping up with new "trench warfare"? It certainly isn't worth $60.

It's a shame, really, because an exclusive license should be a huge opportunity. But, instead, they've ruined NFL video games.

Re: Madden NFL 25 Next-Gen Gameplay Trailer and Four More War in the Trenches Videos

When is the last time Mr. Madden played one of these games? Even if he has really nothing to do with them anymore, his name and reputation is on the line every year. If I were Mr. Madden and had been playing Madden for the past 8 years, I would do everything I could to release my name from this.

He seems like the person who will tell you how it is and not let money get in the way of football. I really want to see Madden in a room with EA developers. Listening as he plays his game for 2 hours and listen to him critique it with replays. John Madden deserves better and so does his name.

EA, you are pooping on Madden and his HOF status when you continue to release this. I bet he would be happier if you released a true SIM game and it did not sell as well as some arcade sim hybrid whatever.

If in the end the game failed because it was so sim, Madden would probably say "At least it was FOOTBALL as intended and that is what matters."

How would the OS community feel if EA went the true sim route and in 5 years we had an amazing game but it did not sell enough to the casual fan and they stopped making it? To me it would be better to have a great sim game for a while than another 50 years of hybrid whatever.

As mentioned in another thread, Madden has the key players from EA over in his mancave in January.

He's still influential in the trends of the current NFL.

I like the fact that they are working on the line play which they should have done years ago, but the thing that worries me is at the 43 sec mark with the Seahawks is how bad the Titans ILB reacts to the pass, that throw would have never been made given that the advantage the ILB had on the crossing receiver. And on the Panthers where we look at the left side I hope the fix that the line man don't fall down like he did in the vid from the blitzing CB, I know he hits him but the way he feel down just looks bad. I'm glad they are improving the trench battle let's hope the Coaching AI is improved to provide a much tougher battle for the human opponent.

Why, oh, why can't they fix the ridiculously large stripes on the Bears sleeves? Seriously, who designs uniforms for Madden?
