Quick Tournaments Problem & Question...

I just played my first 4 person quick tournament. I won the first match and it returned me to the room and stated who I was to play next. I challenged him and started the final game. About 1 quarter into the game with him leading by 7 points he stated he needed to quit due to a family issue. I offered a friendly quit but apparently in a tournament it is not available. He stated it was ok and he would just quit and accept the loss and DNF penality. I felt bad for the guy but appeciated his honesty and he quit.

What happened next is the problem. The screen said he quit and then I was returned to the room (no choice to play the computer), now empty and it still stated I was to play him. It had a 50 minute timer ticking down and when I tried to quit the room it warned me that if I did so I would forfeit the tournament and have a DNF penality.

I was forced to sit in the empty room for 50 minutes until the computer stated he forfeited on time and then allowed me to quit the room without penality. It never showed that I won the game either.

What happened? Why when he quit did I simply not get awarded the tournament and why wasn't I allowed to quit the tournament? While I understand a wait timer for an opponent in tournaments if they quit the game in progress don't they just lose??

to make matters worse it evidently gave me a DNF because my DNF percentage went from 4% to 8% even though i let the timer expire and it no longer warned me leaving the room...

is it too much to want my win awarded, to not have to wait in an empty room after my opponent quit for 50 minutes, and most of all not to get false DNF charged to my tag?

frustrated beyond belief...
