i know, cause i'm using his rosters right now ^^
what can i say, i just want more lol
as I'm planning to play Pittsburgh and go full on rebuilding-mode, prospects r pretty important 4 myself. (T. Sanchez, S. Allie etc.)
well, i can always edit them myself if none are added anymore.

and again, i'm always thankful to all involved.

What I am changing? Nearly everything.
For fielders I am concentrating on batting ratings (80% of the players are off depending on vs. LHP and RHP, 2k didn't put much effort into this, also I try to adjust their eye ratings to make them fitting with their strikeout and walk tendencies), speed ratings (some superfast players are way too slow and it goes also the other way round) and fielding ratings (seems that every star player which is bad to mediocre at fielding in reality has good to very good fielding ratings ingame nonetheless).

For pitchers I am editing their pitch types and control and movement on those pitches to develop realistic pitches (most pitchers have wrong pitch speeds and often totally wrong pitches in their arsenal while others are simply lacking, also some pitchers have way too much or way too less control and movement on their pitches).

Also I try to edit some pitchers batting ratings since this is mostly way off (I think 2k didn't really touch them deep).

And last but not least I change some tendencies (I hate it when ingame some guys are drawing walks after walks although in reality they have the worst plate discipline or pitchers strike you out one after another although in reality they have e.g. 4,5 k/9).
How do you know what rating to give them? Is there something out there that translates, generally, what a rating should mean?

I just want to know where is Bryce Harper of the Nats? He's not in BSU-FANS current roster unless he has a fake name.

He definately IS. Look at the Nats AAA-affiliate.
In his last file BSU-Fan included nearly all top-100 prospects and Harper is one of them. I looked into the game and Harper is there. Use the "Find Player" option if you do not know how to look into the minor league teams and you will find him. Otherwise you simply aren't using BSU-Fan's roster.

Re: PC Roster

Hey there.

Is there any update on your project or the work with BSU-Fan?

I'd like to start a franchise for good but am still wavering because of the possibility for a roster with more realistic player ratings than with those given by 2k. I'm using BSU-Fans roster right now, but if there will be a better roster in the future I probably would wait for that one.

I think, a megapack with overhauled rosters, cyberfaces, portraits and so on would be a fantastic thing for the community. If you could put it into a simple installer, so that one doesn't have to change every ID for the cyberfaces or portraits by himself would be even greater.

Unfortunately 2k did a poor job with the most cyberfaces in the game. Compared to their NBA game I can't understand why the faces there are quite good and most of the faces in MLB aren't.

Another question.
Do you also edit the values of peak age start and end of the players?
I think, the latter is an indicator for the game when players retire in franchise mode. For example Jeter allways retires after the first season and A-Rod one year after that. Given their huge contracts and their remaining ratings and reality I don't think that's a realistic thing. I guess, this will apply to many old but still good players in the game. I just picked the two because I experienced it with both while simming some seasons.

Last but not least. I appreciate your efforts to improve the qualitiy of the game with your cyberfaces and this roster project.

I was in correspondence with BSU-Fan. He took some minor advices from me into his current work. His work will be a massive overhaul that will include nearly all AAA/AA/A players and current rosters/transactions/etc.

But (sadly or not) he didn't want to change the ratings in a big way, since he fears that this could cause trouble and (as far as I understood) he thinks there was a strategy by 2k behind giving the players their respective ratings and he never had touched them. I can understand that he fears problems (although I do not think there would be too many or too big ones), since he stated that he worked with some guys together in the past and many problems ocurred.

As far as I know he will include some small suggestions by me, like changes in stamina and composure of some pitchers as well as some changes in fielding abilities for special positions of some players which were wrong (and because of that were causing strange position alignments by the AI) into his next roster.

He hasn't responded me in a while (maybe he is busy), but I am thinking about asking him if he would allow me to take his first release and update it (without AA and A players) with "correct" ratings, pitch types, etc.
For now I have done the first 3 teams in alphabetical order for myself (Angels,Astros,Athletics), but I do not want to release anything which was based on his work without his agreement.

Since I do not play franchise mode because of some flaws I am okay with making progress quite slowly, but if you desperately want a roster with edited ratings, pitch types, etc. I could ask him if he would allow me to release a modified version of his first base roster for MLB 2k12.

He also plans to include cyberfaces into one of his next packs, but I don't know if it will be in the next one.

Mostly I edit everything. Ratings (batting, pitching, baserunning, fielding), pitch styles, pitch speed, some tendencies, and also the clutch ratings, durability ratings, peak age. I know your problem with retiring players very well.
And to be honest I can not understand why so many guys try to tell us that the rating system by 2k isn't flawed. It could be that it isn't flawed for some top players, but mediocre and bad players somehow always have ratings that are way off.

Thanks, you are welcome. As I said, perhaps I should ask him about using his roster as a base.

There are really two types of people who edit rosters. Some focus on having accurate MLB lineups and minor leaguers with real names. Guys like you (and me) focus on testing and improving upon the default gameplay via player rating edits. If you could take someone's lineup-accurate roster and make the required player rating edits in order to improve the gameplay, that would be ideal.

For PC users it would. But Xbox and PS3 players wouldn't benefit.
