Player potential help

Hello I was wondering that If it is possible for player to increase their potential if they play good...an example of this is if player A who is 23 and has a 4 star potential plays good will they progress into a 5 star? Thanks for reading and I appreachiate any help thanks

The Dev Insight on Franchise, Player Development, etc... that I linked to, didn't shed any light on things for you? There are many factors that come into play when it comes to player progression.

In case you couldn't find the relevent part still,

"In general, players will tend to progress to a rating near their potential but, just like in real life, players won’t always reach their potential and sometimes they may exceed expectations. "

So yes a 3 star potential player can become better than a 79 overall for instance.
