Couldn't they sidestep the dilemma by assigning all generic equipment to all players in the final retail build, but having the sponsored equipment as either an unlockable or editable feature?
That would still require a license, which would make it a no go. And the MLBPA probably has a clause in the CBA that allows them to do this. Unfortunately it is what it is and I don't think it's going to change any time soon.

But in till then let the delvopers work on game play.

P.s. when they read these forums they must laugh at those comments.
Don't you think that the attention to details in the visual aspect will reflect the attention to details in the gameplay aspect ?

No I don't Think that. Attention to game AI logic and the mecnhanics as well physics has nothing to do whether or not the right shoe or glove is in the game. Nor having the right shoe or glove proves that there is the correct attention to gameplay details.

Yeah that's great proof...

Not at all. In fact, the reason that gameplay in this product (or any sports game for that matter) is not as realistic as it could be, is BECAUSE OF people who would rather look at Jordan's shoes, 500 five hundred home runs, rather than actually 'think' about how to win a game.

Whatever sells is whatever the game maker is going to make. Honestly, why does this even need to be explained?

If the majority of game buyers demonstrated that they were knowledgeable sports fans who want the real thing, then that's the sort of thing that would be on shelves.

Sometimes I wonder if the folks creating posts asking about the colors of so and so's shoes, are really serious or if they are just trying to be annoying.

Hyperbole alert! Definitely next-gen graphics, c'mon now. Just circa 07-08. Stadiums look very good though IMO, especially when modded on the PC version.
