as much as i'd love to see the giants make the playoffs i don't want to see them trading any future stars for middle aged stop gap players.

I still say Dye or Cantu. I would always like to fish for a guy like Derrek Lee, but he comes at a high price.

What is Shea Hillenbrand doing these days? Not saying I want him (though I wanted them to keep him when they had him), but I hadn't heard his name yet this year. Is he still playing?

No to anyone at this point. Any trade will most likely come at a high prospect price. Unless they take Sanchez off our hands because as bad as he's pitched he does have upside.

I want to see them in the Playoffs, especially to build their confidence. I just don't want to see a dumb trade for a borrowed bat to make the push.

We are playing well right now,the chemistry is there and the best part is can only go up from here.

Oh... and it's time to start treating A.P. like Bonds in key situations. He is dangerous, just walk him.

I fail to see how Howry blows. He pitched for the out, and he got it twice. Sandoval missed one, and the umpire missed the other (actually, it was outside [not low], but he called that for a strike earlier). On that 3 - 2 count, he was pitching for a strike, no matter where it went on the plate. If he pitched a ball, he would be throwing from the stretch with Pujols at the plate. He couldn't be fancy on that pitch.

Again, no time was that ever Howry's fault.

Re: 2009 San Francisco Giants

Sorry, I should have said "I fail to see how Howry blew." Basically, tonight's loss can't be put on him anywhere else than in the statistics. The Giants failed to capitalize offensively when they could have, and Bochy made terrible calls himself like trying to perform a hit-and-run with your pitcher. We even caught a break, and we only got one run out of it. Sandoval took and 0-for-5, and that error was ever so costly for him as well.

No, Howry has not been great in general. But we already used up Romo and we needed a righty to throw against Pujols and Ludwick. Wilson could have thrown, but he went for a four out save just yesterday and we may need him for tomorrow (if memory serves correctly, we don't rest again until the All Star Break). Plus, we are the away team, so we need to plan ahead in case we actually did pull ahead of STL within the next couple of innings. We just needed Howry for that inning, could have given Sanchez a few innings easily, and still would have had Wilson in case he could close out a lead if we got one.

Howry was the right choice to make for that inning (better than Medders), and he pitched to Rasmus very appropriately. I'm not talking about past games, though I spoke in a prolonged tense. As for tonight, there are many other people to blame, starting with Sandoval and Renteria.
