I won't be able to play until after this weekend. I have a big exam coming up on Fri-Sat so i'm going to be out of commission for a couple of days

Likewise, I've been travling all week for work, back tomorrow - will fire it up then!

Good luck on the exams!

Here's my issue right now, about 60% of my strikeouts (about 7 total a game) come on check swing challenges. (3 or 4 per game) I played a few games with fouls at 7 and appeals off, and I struck out 7 times - but didn't feel as damn cheated. The weird thing, now they ring me up automatically when I don't think I broke my wrists!

Try a game and let me know how this impact you're K's.

pberardi, what did you take CPU fouls to? default?
I play with check swing appeal off. Always have. I strike out enough with it off. It also keeps you alive for deeper counts. I do get called for a check swing once in awhile.

I have CPU fouls at default now. I still think the cpu fouls too much off.

I like it at 8 or 10 per PB for the user now. The funny thing is I always lose the 8 or 9 pitch battles to a strikeout. I rarely get walks from them. All the CPU does is throw fastballs all in the same location for 15 minutes and then gets you on that perfect changeup that fades past your bat! (lol)

Anyway, I played two games last night 1 on As and 1 on Legend.

They both played great.

On Allstar I was dominated by Braden (lefties are so deceptively good in this game) He had me one hitted for 7 innings. Nothing but grounders and popups.

I made him throw 80 something pitches by the 6th. He was really dealing with corner strikes, yet he threw only 52% for strikes! I walked 4x and struckout 5x in 7 innings.I chased only 7 balls which shows I had nothing good to hit all game.

It felt like Legend! Nothing but soft hits without the L stick. Yet I never felt overwhelmed which is nice. I always felt I could handle 2-2 counts and fight off the cpu's pitches.

Finally in the 8th on an 0-2 count he gave me a hanging slider over the middle which I nailed for a solo HR. Things unraveled and the solid hits that were absent started happening for two doubles.

I lost 6-2 but actually felt good about the at bats. My ability to read pitches were really solid and I layed off alot of pitches.

Then I played a nice game on Legend and lost 6-1 also but walked 7x and struckout 6x! The first time in about 60 games I walked more than struckout! (Yes, it happens quite often in baseball folks)

I had 7 hits, two doubles and one HR. I was really struggling with line drives until some fatigue set in.

Don't be intimidated by Legend this year. It's not that hard.
The cage is not the best depiction of a difficulty level.

First: You can't adjust pitch speed in the cage so I tend to be late on most fastballs.

The cage doesn't take into affect fatigue, confidence and so on so X will not get you the desired hit variety.

There are many times on AS when my "x" only hitting leads to nothing but grounders and outs. I do use the L on AS when I feel I need it.

I want to believe if you have the cpu's confidence in it's fastball lowered, you will start to notice an appreciable difference in the solid hit variety with "X" compared to when the fastball confidence is high or for any pitch for that matter.

When high, it seems "X" only provides contact but no line drive or power associated with the contact, when low, you can feel and hear the ball coming off the bat much harder.

This plays into your theory. I suppose you can raise contact to the point where "X" will provide the results you want but it's not 1 I can tell you that much.

@ pberardi

Great info man. I'm going to play a handful of games tonight, one on legend to see how it plays. Did you keep pitching at HOF? What did you take USER contact up to? Any other changes?

Re: CHdaughter**HOF/ALLSTAR** Slider Set 2010

Just wanted to post a result with these sliders. I beat the Reds 6-4 with the Cubs. Was a very good game. I jumped on them early and was up 5-0 after 1 thanks to a Theriot lead off walk and Fukudome rbi double. Then a Soriano grand slam.

Score stayed 5-0 until the 6th when the Reds got 3 off of Gorzelany. I answered with a solo shot by Aramis. The Reds added a run in the 8th and then loaded the bases but I was able to induce the double play to get me out of the inning. Marmol gave up a lead off single in the 9th then struck out the next 3 for the save.

Great game 11 hits apiece 2 homeruns by me 1 by them. I walked 3 times and walked them twice.

I think I will be using these for the rest of my franchise. I will post some more results tomorrow sometime.
