Just a side bit of info, that's likely the glitch that carried over from 08. If you played an exhibition game prior to starting your franchise (meaning without shutting down/resetting in between) you'd end up being stuck with the overlays from exhibition, rather than ones for the current season.

Re: MLB 09' Game Engine???

There was one game I played where the CPU walked 4 straight guys of mine all on 4 pitches each.

Thought that was kinda weird, only a one time thing, but odd nonetheless.

Errors too, go a week without one and then you'll get into a series where the CPU and User teams make a couple a game. These of course could be explained away as "streaks".

The most odd example was a game where Tom Gordon hit two of my batters in one inning, then two more in his second inning. Seemed like the "event"' just got stuck for a couple innings.

If you were flipping a coin and it suddenly came up heads 4 times in a row, would you think that some one magically swapped coins out on you mid-flip?

Bad example, flipping a coin and it having it come up heads 4 times in a row is alot more common than a pitcher throwing 16 straight balls. Let alone the AI pitchers in this game. A 4 pitch walk is about as common as a real yeti sighting, especially on Legend.

NO, because that is a 50/50 occurence.

A pitcher walking 4 straight batters, on 16 consecutive balls: that has way less than a 50% chance of happening.

No, there is a 6.25% chance you will flip a coin and get heads 4 times in a row.

Re: MLB 09' Game Engine???

Sometimes the best explanation for why things happen the way they do in baseball is well, its baseball.

Baseball is a funny game.

IMO, instead of trying to figure out why things are happening, just play thru/accept the things that are happening. It seems that people are concerned with having predictable outcomes emerge from an unpredictable sport/game.

Re: MLB 09' Game Engine???

im thinking its just baseball in my oakland franchise Jack just had 12 HR in the first 20 or so games, at the all star break he has 15.

i think i see what the op is saying but i think (for baseball) its too small a sample size to attribute to weirdness or a "ghost in the machine" if you will.
