Re: 30 team franchise is a blast!

I am loving 30-team control too actually. I didnt think i would, but it's great. I only change line-ups and pitching rotations every so often for other teams. And even then, I only do it to make sure that big-name players like pujols aren't batting 1st or 9th, or somewhere WAY out of place.

My favorite feature is being able to see all cpu-proposed trades, and choosing to accept them if they're legit, or decline them if they arent (like the yankees trading a-rod for some prospects). plus, if i want to propose a trade, i just switch global trades back to auto, and then the cpu team will either accept or reject my trade offer, instead of forcing the cpu team to accept any offer i make.

Re: 30 team franchise is a blast!

I haven't gone down the 30 team route cos I have enough trouble looking after my team in my chise....but one thing I have been doing is playing the odd game accross the league! like today, for instance, I'm 7 games into my braves chise and just had an off day so I wanted to try something different, so I took on the Royals with the Red Sox and the Athletics with the Mariners. The great thing is, it gives you the opportunity to pitch and play with some of your out of town favourite players and you don't have to worry about playing the whole game, you can just simulate to the end if you get bored! I find it a nice compromise, you don't get all the roster control, but you get to have a go around the league, and I like it!

People with a full time job do not have endless hours to play. It's extremely hard enough to play one team 162 games. Not that I don't want the 30 team option for everyone else, some people just can not use it. It has little to do with "want". It's "can't", in my opinion.

Maybe if I had been laid off and had two years worth of entitlement checks...never mind....

:O)

edit: now this is what I like to hear, good thinking:

Re: 30 team franchise is a blast!

The last two posts have me thinking that some guys still don't understand what 30 team control entails.
The term 30 team control is a bit misleading I believe.
It can mean.....controlling everything for the other teams...or nothing at all. However...
If you start a franchise WITHOUT selecting all 30 teams...you are stuck with whatever happens
If you start a franchise WITH the OLD CPU ROSTER CONTROL(controlling all 30 teams the old way)...you are forced to do everything for each team.
If you start a franchise with the NEW 30 team control....you don't have to do anything for any team but yours. NOTHING......UNLESS...you want to. It also gives you the opportunity to step in to any teams front office(WITHOUT changing anything to manual)...and make a simple or even complex move for them.
For instance:
You just finished your 2010 season with the Boston Red Sox....you chose 30 team control ...but have all other 29 teams to NO PROFILE and all the GLOBAL OPTIONS set to AUTO. The CPU has been making every decision for every other team all season long. You have done nothing for any team but yours for the entire 2010 season.
You are going through the 15 day exclusive contract period and notice that the Yankees are about to let Mariano Rivera go to the FA market. Yikes....that's not good, right?
Now...you can go to the Yankee manage roster screen and offer Mariano one last contract at ridiculous Yankee money....ensuring that he ends his career as a N.Y. Yankee. Simple.
30 team control....sweet.
..and imagine this...I didn't have to quit my job to do it!

Re: 30 team franchise is a blast!

My question is: I'm just getting into 30 Team control. So sorry if its obvious...if I wanted to just control the injuries/lineups, FA, and ability to accept or decline a trade...whats the best set up for that scenario? And obviously I'd control my own team.

Knight, do you mean to have control, each team 1) needs assigned a profile, and 2) GLOBAL set to Manual?
Then at the beginning of the franchise, go thru each team and just control what you want with each team?

Yes, I have been confused with 30 team since release day lol

Knight,
If I leave injuries on auto will the cpu make realistic moves?
For example if A-Rod sprains his ankle will the cpu Yankees place him on the 15 day disabled list and call up the appropriate replacement.
And when he's healthy again place him back in the lineup?
If not is their away i can make that decision for them after he's been injured?

Re: 30 team franchise is a blast!

I used to hate it, but now I love. Everything is set to auto and if a trade happens in real life I can make it happen or if the CPU messes up a lineup or something I can fix it. Epic
