Andy Pettitte (he was still on the default rosters)
Clayton Richard
James McDonald

SU: Rafael Soriano
CP: Mariano Rivera

I didn't even look at offensive abilities for my lineup just went with the highest fielding rating. Some REALLY bad offensive players that have A fielding ratings but I built this team to win a World Series in year one then rebuild from the young guys.

Lineup:
2B - Luis Castillo
1B - Todd Helton
CF - Mike Cameron
3B - Eric Chavez
LF - Bobby Abreu
DH - Travis Ishikawa
RF - Jeff Francoeur
C - Ivan Rodriguez
SS - Omar Vizquel

They actually have very good contact ratings but HORRIBLE power. Looks like this will be a small ball team although some guys have a good mix of contact/power to give me some homers.
I did a fantasy draft with the Nationals and here's my squad:

Rotation:
Clayton Kershaw
Phil Hughes
Carl Pavano
Clayton Richard
Jeff Manship (teammate at ND)

Bullpen:
Dan Wheeler
Aroldis Chapman
*No idea
*No idea

Craig Kimbrel - closer

Lineup:
1. Michael Young - 2B
2. Brett Gardner - LF
3. Troy Tulowitzki - SS
4. Justin Morneau - 1B
5. Colby Rasmus - CF
6. Michael Stanton - RF
7. Carlos Santana - C
8. Danny Valencia - 3B

Bench:
1B - Jim Thome
OF - Brennan Boesch

There are more guys on my team but those are the main players. My team is rated #5 overall and I'm really excited. If my buddy Manship doesn't get it done I have some good starting pitching prospects to replace him. He'll always be on my 25 man though! Hopefully he does well for me

*My last team was deleted due to erasing the wrong file*

How is the injury slider at default this year for played games? Like, have any of you seen any injuries, and are they happening often enough?
Idk how the injury sliders are but i've seen injuries. I currently have 2 players in the 60 day DL... One thing i did not like was that while i was playing, i hit a line drive right to the face of the pitcher and he just shaked it off and kept pitching.

Did those players get hurt while playing, or simming?

2 out 60 days!!! That's rough man.

Actually, Gregg has been pretty solid for me...who knows!?

McDonald is purely for defense.

2-5 now. My hitting from Braun and Hart is awful. They are destroying my entire lineup. That and playing against the Reds and Braves...watch out.

Those first two series are murder. And then there's the Cubs, who I personally always struggle with.

Luckily after that it's the Pirates and the Nats, so you should be able to make up some games there.

Great story! I love how you'd bump up your ace up to spark your team! Looks like it did the trick, too. Risky, but good call man.

That's one thing I love about this year's game. Aces are capable of pitching like aces, regardless of the difficulty level.

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread

Just had a crazy game in my Dodgers franchise. The Cubs came into town and it was my 5th starter (Jon Garland) vs their 4th starter (Randy Wells).

The Cubs jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first due to Garland struggling with finding the zone.

I managed to tie the game back up in the 3rd with a 2 RBI double from Ethier and a RBI single from Blake.

Fast forward to the 7th, still 3-3. Wells gets injured, Garland goes out after battling back for 6 strong innings.

I bring in Matt Guerrier, he sucks. Gives up 3 runs in 2/3 innings, so I am forced to bring in Troncoso to clean up the mess.

Now onto the bottom of the 7th, I manage to load the bases full of Dodgers, and what do you know, Andre Ethier back up again. He hits a shot right down the corner, that just stays fair, to clear the bases 6-6. I signed Russell Branyan earlier in the season when the offense was struggling, so I bring him in to PH for the pitcher who was hitting in the 6th spot and he manages to get an RBI single. 7-6 Dodgers.

8th inning, I bring in Belisario to set it up for Broxton, and what do you know, he serves up a HR to Soto to make the score 7-7.

My half of the 8th, Cubs bring in John Grabow, and on the 2nd pitch he threw, Rod Barajas sent it over the wall in dead center. I managed to get another RBI with Ethier, giving him 6 for the game. 9-7 Dodgers.

Broxton comes in. Gets Soriano chasing a slider to strike him out. Then gives up a little single to Colvin. DeWitt comes up, grounds into a 3-6-3 Double Play to end the game.

Dodgers win 9-7 and move their record to 18-12. One of the most enjoyable games ever.

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread

Cards took 2 out of 3 from me, my record is now 5-4, hosting the Dodgers next for a 3 game set.

Man the Cards ROCKED my starting pitching. Game 1 they beat Cain up pretty good, gave up 5 ER in 5 IP, they won 10-1. Carpenter shut me down.

Sanchez got hammered in Game 2, but I made an amazing comeback. Down 5-1 in the 7th on Jaime Garcia, I had runners on the corners with 2 outs, and Tejada knocked 1 in on a single to make it 5-2. Derosa got a single to load em up. I pinch hit Aaron Rowand for the pitcher, and on a 1-2 count, he hit a 3 run triple off the brick wall in right-center to tie it 5-5. I was PUMPED lol, crowd was going crazy.

Now Rowand is on 3rd, 2 outs, Torres walked. Freddie Sanchez comes up and hits a liner down the left field line to clear the bases, I go up 7-5, and end up holding the lead with Wilson closing it out. Amazing game. Man with these big NL West ballparks, sometimes you have to keep grinding and grinding, but when your balls start finding those gaps you can do damage quickly.

Game 3...Bumgarner was perfect through 4, then all the wheels came off in the 5th. Gave up a run. Then with runners on 1st and 2nd, 2 outs, 3-2 count to Pujols, he fouls off 3 or 4 straight pitches. I don't know what the heck I was thinking as I should have just tried to get him to chase, take the walk and then go after Holliday, but I tried to sneak a curve on the outside corner, that of course landed in the middle of the plate, BAM, 3-run shot, 4-0 just like that. I regretted that pitch so much that I could hardly focus for the rest of the game. Then Holliday slams a fastball on the outside corner for a solo shot to make it back-to-back. 5-0. I lost 7-4.

Cards hit .330 for the series, but it was good to get that out the way as that was my first real test going through a lineup like that, now I know how to pitch to the big boys.

Hopefully I can get back on track against the rival Dodgers. I really need a good start out of Zito to get rolling again.
