Re: MLB 10 holdovers

To the original poster, I have almost the exact same experience as you. At this point I'm wishing I'd just kept 10 and saved some money. 11 is too glitchy for me at this point as only a casual player.

I haven't purchased 11, and not sure if I'm going too. Just curious as to how many others in the forum plan to just stay with 10?

I'm not very good to begin with as far as hitting in 10, and don't get to play as much as I would like too, or probably need too, to be better. My thinking...why spend the money just because it's new, if I'm no better at playing it.

It does seem as if 11 plays good, but I know I'm not the only one that sees the need to upgrade at this point. Not downplaying others if they did, because I can see why someone who plays the game well, would want to upgrade.

Just curious...

All I know is. When I played the game in an earlier state back at the CE in mid January. '10 stopped spinning in my PS3.

The fielding alone was just too good to continue to play '10.

And all the other stuff and overall polish makes this game much better.

i cant echo this enough.

like i said earlier i shelved 10 bc of fielding, and 11 is just soooo much better. you can clearly see the diff between each individual fielder, you can make diving stabs, players no longer just jog past grounders they actually reach now, no more ball morphing through the glove, cancel throw midstride is HUGE, fielding animations are limited based on fielding ratings. i haven indulged deep into franchise to care about the '13 glitch. the gameplay just plays a whole lot better when you have realistic fielding. in 10 you were at the animation mercy of what happens in the field. this year, you and player ratings is everything.

Re: MLB 10 holdovers

Perhaps this is the best place to post this...

I am (or was, anyway) planning to be a 10 Holdover. I love this game, and I'm near the end of May with my beloved Royals. I've called up a bunch of talent, made some pitching changes, and generally love how my squad is performing, so I'm not ready to make the change to 11, even if it will be better. HOWEVER, that brings me to my problem.

Following my May 29th loss in the game, I auto-saved as I always do. When I went to start my next game on Monday, May 30th, I made some lineup changes, proceeded, and as the screen was loading following my lineup changes, it got about 1/6 of the way on the loading bar, and crashed out to the XMB. I loaded it up, tried it again, same result about 4 times.

I had remembered issues in the past where one day could throw your game haywire for some reason, so I went ahead and simmed that Monday date (and lost, dammit, with Greinke on the mound.) I went ahead to play Tuesdays game, and had the exact same result, booting me to the XMB. I took the disc out, gave it a wipe down, and did a PS3 Update that I'd been ignoring for awhile. This time it loaded (although quite slowly with some hiccups in the music.) HOWEVER...

The game is unplayable. There are random polygons, colors, fans, umpires, and just generally awkwardness all over the field. Thanks to some well-placed hits I was actually up 4-0 in the 4th with the game completely froze on a fastball down the middle. Controller was unresponsive, but the PS3 did shut off with a simple power button push.

Which brings me here. Sorry to (somewhat) threadjack this thing, but I've been searching the forums high and low and haven't been able to really locate this situation. It's very difficult now with the (obvious) Show 11 talk front and center here on the forums. If anyone could pitch in and help me out, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Is this likely just a corrupted save? I loaded up a regular exhibition game and had no issues playing the first couple innings. No weird graphical tweaks and what not. If it is, is it a known issue and is there any workaround to get me going again? Thanks for any help out there. Long live The Show 10!

Re: MLB 10 holdovers

Ok let me tell those thinking of holding over my opinion..Get this GAMe!! if you like 10 you will love this... It does evreything 10 does better at first i wus a little worried that i couldnt hit form playing the demo once i got the retail and played a game i knew i had no worries. Game is so Fluid and smooth its Wild! and i usually hit on Legend Default sliders but since they beefed up the difficulty im on hall of Fame even when i played it on legend i wus still hittiing Bombs but struck out to much . So all those saying they cant hit i dont know where thats coming from guess it takes a little practice. As far as bugs go i have no idea where s.ome that stuff is coming from ive seen 1 or 2 to but very small glitches thats it and im into a franchise and 2nd year of RTTS which by the way is greatly improved. But anyway its a must have

sounds like you have one of the AI controlled teams with an improper lineup/rotation.

Re: MLB 10 holdovers

I'm not really a '10 holdover as much as I have been playing both games. Rosters are a big issue for me and because I spent so much time getting everything where I wanted in '10, I can't really toss it until I'm able to transfer that to the new game.

I don't know what the bugs are with franchise as I don't really play that mode, but one of my biggest gripes with '10 was the defense. Guys holding onto balls when they should be throwing, diving way too far, phony-looking "great" catches against the wall, etc. But '11 has fixed all of the defense. It's a tough call. I'm probably going to end up playing both games...

Re: MLB 10 holdovers

Good news! I seem to have (at least for now) gotten past whatever bug was in my save file. I went ahead and begrudgingly simmed May 31st as well. My starter got lit up (again, same as my May 30 sim) but I decided to give June 1 a go.

I got a message that my AAA had improper pitching rotation, which I gave a FIX ALL to. Not sure if this was the problem, but my next game booted up glitch free, and I played all 9 innings (and oddly enough had my strongest offensive game of the season.)

So I remain a MLB The Show 10 Holdover, and couldn't be happier!
