An idea that i've always wanted implemented is an additional rating for catchers that helps them call games and develop a pitching staff. As the system is now, why wouldn't you choose an offensive catcher? You don't have any real reason to play a catcher who can't mash. If a "staff handler" (terrible name btw) rating could be added, it would give you an incentive to pick one up, especially with a young starting rotation. Just my 52¢
Brilliant idea about the catcher. As with most positions on this game, defense is a secondary attribute. I love the risk reward aspect of signing offensive players for defensive positions. As it stands now, there is almost no risk and all reward. I feel like I can bring in nine power hitting first baseman on this game and place them all over the field with very little downside. I really want a reason to go after Yadier the first off season of The Show 12

Yup, I love that idea. Between calling a good game, keeping the pitcher's confidence up, blocking pitches in the dirt, framing close pitches, pouncing on bunts, and throwing out base-stealers, catchers have the capacity to have quite an impact defensively.

Exactly. Catchers have a huge impacts on games and a pitching staff, in more ways than just with their bats. I would love to see someone like Jesus Montero (if he stays a catcher) struggle to call a good game and not know when to go and have a mound meeting with the pitcher, and have Molina know what pitch needs to be thrown in what situation and if the pitcher happens to get rocked he can head out and talk him down a little.

I think we might eventually see a "catcher calling game" attribute.
I know it's been discussed(granted it was with Kolbe, so it's a reset of sorts)

sink.....I'm putting together a list of suggestions to send to Aaron and Brent for '13. I'll put in your ideas(the ones that don't overlap with what I've got already)

Awesome, thanks Knight. I really appreciate what you and others do to represent the community.

And of course their response to these will be "What the heck is that guy smoking?"

They've always had that in the 2K games, but I've never noticed if it made a real difference. But yeah, that would be a good addition, because, lets face it, if you ever played as the Angels in the last 2 years the first player you got rid of was Jeff Mathis, and rightfully so, his offence was terrible (except for the 2009 ALCS, he just caugth fire when it mattered most). However, he is an amazing defensive catcher (something that most of my fellow Angels fans, seem to forget or take for granted , can't imagine why ), and, he can call a good game (from what I've read), I mean, you don't just have the ace of the staff prefer you over 2 other catchers for nothing (because Conger is definitely a better offensive catcher compared to Mathis, maybe even Bobby Wilson was better than Mathis offensively, hard to say. That said, Wilson was prefered by Santana, especially after he threw a no-hitter ). But yeah, like I said, it would be a great addition if it made a noticable difference, not extreme, but noticeable.

Where in the heck have I been? Why I've I ever heard of this game before? This is way better than Sports Mogul.

Re: The Future of Franchise

So am I to take this post to mean that the promised and much needed franchise overhaul has not happened?

Just wondering, because many of the ideas presented are things I would have expected to see included. I haven't followed the development closely so maybe this has all been covered, but if franchise mode isn't at the very least fixed this year I really don't see much reason to buy it again this year. I love this game but they are in severe danger of straying into Madden land if they continue to ignore the obvious.

If on the other hand at least some of the necessary changes have been made, nevermind that previous mini-rant. I guess i'll have to read up and educate myself on what is different this year.
