Ha! LOL! That one irks me...

I've seen that more times than I care to.

"Ok. Ok. You're too sensitive to release Jason Michaels yourself, huh? That's fine, Washington. That's fine. I'll pay his 400K and let him go for you."

Re: Trade Logic in The Show 12?

i'll post the details when i get home

i know i traded sizemore, hafner, kotchman, chris perez, jimenez, joe smith, raffy perez

i also know i traded for chapman from cincy - gave up sizemore and another player, then got frustrated with his wildness and turned him into lester - again i'll post the details.

also from previous posts, pujols is on the market in every sim i've played but i've yet to see him traded.

5/13/2013: Acquired SP C.J. Wilson and CP J.J. Putz from the Angels for CP Chris Perez

The others I can only tell the dates from the first two trades because my 2012 save file is from the end of the season and the transactions only go back to 8/1 for some reason.

8/7 Acquired SP James Shields from the Rays for 2b Jason Donald (dud)

8/16 Acquired RP Brian Fuentes from the Athletics for 1b Russ Canzler (dud)

On these last 4 I do NOT have dates but the were all from before 8/1 and they all took place after their team put them on the trade block:

Cincy gave me Chapman for Sizemore and Carmona - not horrible

Boston gave me Lester and Will Middlebrooks for Aroldis Chapman - rape

Washington gave me Zimmerman for Casey Kotchman - rape

Giants gave me Baumgarner and Gary Brown (A rated OF prospect) and Tommy Joseph (B rated C prospect) for Ubaldo Jimenez - rape

Re: Trade Logic in The Show 12?

I appreciate your take HeroesandVillians and trying to justify some of the things I've seen in my franchise......but if I listed everything that has occurred a lot of it is silly.
Though I do agree in the sense that I am not going to let it ruin the game for me. I'm not someone that is going to restart a Franchise or put the game on the shelf, because the CPU may go a tad over-board when it comes to trades.

I had another "oddity" when it comes to trades in my Franchise.
I had a team offer me a deal. I liked one of the players they were offering, but decided to take a look at the roster and see if I can switch the other. So I went to make a counter-offer and had 0% interest and got the "Not willing to take on more money" message.
This made me curious, so I offered them literally the same offer they gave me (that was still in my pending section) and it came up as 0% interest.
So apparently the CPU can decide to add money if they are offering you a trade.......but it's impossible to make the same trade if you are the one initiating it.

Re: Trade Logic in The Show 12?

To HandV's point about "Name" players....Every HOF player ever was once a no-name prospect.
I remember the Cincinnati Reds once trading Hal McRae and a player to be named later to the KC Royals for the AL leader in ERA (Roger Nelson) and the third highest batter (Richie Scheinblum).
Who was the player to be named?...George Brett.
At the time, the Reds was considered to have gotten a great deal.
Just showing that in Franchise Mode over many seasons, players are going to come and go. At some point there will be some unknown prospect that's going to make you forget all about Derek Jeter, Derek Jeter is TODAY! Mickey Mantle was yesterday! Nobody knows who's going to be a legend tomorrow! Thats just the nature of the beast. Kids 20 years from now won't know Derek Jeter other than watching ancient Youtube clips.
The Show's Trade Logic plays to that reality somewhat. Maybe earlier than we would like. Those who object to "Name" players being replaced by unknowns are probably suffering from the culture shock of how easily everyone can be replaced. When you play ten seasons in a month, that shock is multiplied many times. No shame in that. But realize that you're watching the world pass before your eyes much faster than you would normally.

Re: Trade Logic in The Show 12?

Sorry but the trades I listed above were horrible and most didn't involve any time of prospect that could turn out to be George Brett - or even Ken Brett.

CJ Wilson and JJ Putz for Chris Perez?
Zimmerman for Kotchman?
Shields for Jason Donald?

I'm in June of 2013 and the Red Sox are shopping David Ortiz, who is 5th in the league in Avg and 8th in HR and i literally went through EVERY Player in my organization and they would accept EVERY player straight up for Ortiz with the exception of 3 minor league 2b - weird that they obviously wouldn't accept a certain position.

He was untouchable. Seriously. Untouchable aside from possibly a King Felix deal. Montero was as highly touted and coveted around baseball as Trout is today.

Did you think at this time last year, The Yankees would have traded Montero?
Montero was almost traded for Cliff Lee when the Mariners were dealing him. He wasn't untouchable. The Yanks had/have other good catching prospects, and there were/are doubts about Montero's ability to catch. And you call yourself a Yankee fan? Pfff.

While I completely agree that in real life anything can happen and no-name prospects can turn in Hall of Famer's, simply put, that will never happen in the show. If we're talking about a no-name I'm assuming they have about a C or lower in potential so based on the current progression system they just will never become a star.
