I kinda understand your point, but it's not hard to see how it happens. There's other "top prospect" players that go after him. When you're putting a team together, I can definitely put at least 4 guys names before Harper that I would want on my team...especially considering the plethora of OF talent in the big leagues.

I know everyone expects him to be a no doubt awesome player, but he's still young, and could possibly (probably not in this game) decline.

I personally don't think it's that big of a deal, but to each their own.

Re: Fantasy Draft Results Thread

First off, I want to say thanks for this thread, because I have been lost on what to do until the OS rosters come out. This was a perfect solution and along with all drafts, I had some picks I enjoyed, and picks I regret lol. I got the first pick and was excited lol but then I found out quickly it was a snake draft. I went for a combo of players I really like and players I figured had good trade value. This obviously isn't too realistic so I'm not going to treat it as such, so I have budgets off. But I'm in spring training and I am finding it hard to make a deal for anybody. I had to trade my A potential 18 year old first baseman for The Beard. It stung a little, especially after finding out the fact that he will most likely retire at the end of every postseason. But here are my results, can't remember the order with the exception of Trout #1 overall.

Pick #- 1
C- Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Derek Norris
1B- David Ortiz, Anthony Rizzo, Yonder Alonso
2B- Some A prospect named Steven Castro who is starting for me.
3B- Arod, Pedro Alvarez, Mike Olt
SS- Jeter, Ruben Tejada
OF- Bryce Harper, Johnny Damon, Starling Marte
OF- Mike Trout, Lorenzo Cain, Colby Rasmus
OF- Jason Heyward
P- Roy Halladay
P- Chris Carpenter
P- Ryan Vogelsong
P- Dylan Bundy, Trevor Bauer, Jacob Turner, Shelby Miller, Tyler Skaggs, Julio Teheran
P- Mariano
Any Prospects- I'm gonna use the not real ones, 2B Steven Castro, 3B Sammy Torres, SP Jose Garcia, RP Aaron Rosales, 3B Jonas Garlobo, 1B Herb Berry (traded him for Brian Wilson and Bud Norris. Devastating), RP Willy Zarate, RF Richard Sheridan, RF Kurt Wilson. These were all the A's I drafted as prospects.

I like my team, but clearly this team is not meant for anything long term. I took Vogelsong hoping to trade him because he's not particularly fun to use, but so far I can't trade/trade for anybody.

[quote=natejelinek;2044800892]Team: Astros

Pick: 17
C: Salvador Perez
1B: Anthony Rizzo
2B: Danny Espinosa
SS: Starlin Castro
3B: Manny Machado
LF: J.D. Martinez
CF: Jon Jay
RF: Giancarlo Stanton
DH: Wilin Rosario
Bench: Tony Campana, Emanuel Buriss, Danny Valencia, Starling Marte

Rotation:
1. Gio Gonzalez
2. Jeremy Hellickson
3. Micheal Pineda
4. Ricky Romero
5. Rubby De La Rosa

Bullpen:
Jordan Norberto
Andrew Cashner
James Russell
Andrew Bailey
ect.
CL- Addison Reed

Here's my line-up most of the time: (and stats 10 games in) I'm 7-3
1. Castro .270 2HR 8RBI
2. Espinosa .400 4HR 13RBI
3. Stanton .300 5HR 10RBI
4. Perez .350 6HR 12RBI
5. Rizzo .350 4HR 8RBI
6. Rosario .270 5HR 9RBI
7. Machado .350 5HR 11RBI
8. Martinez .250 2HR 6 RBI
9. Jay .400 0HR 7RBI

I feel like this is a pretty solid team. Not many superstars but I don't have a starting position player over the age of 26. My rotation is all guys in their 20's too. What do you guys think.

Awesome squad I like the theme you took. I just caution taking too many rookies to watch them fall flat on their face in real life is hard to carry on a season in The Show watching them mash Ya know ? I took jemile weeks early last year he was my franchise second baseman and yuk lol Bottom line. I likey and looks like you sticking to a plan. But I got to a point where I didn't like anyone over 30 and passed up some of my faves on age alone madden and MLB. Enjoy your favorites while they are here

Very solid team! I wish I could get Stanton, but it's impossible to get both Stanton and one of the elite CFs (Trout, Kemp, or Cutch). Starlin at SS and Machado at 3rd are both really great considering how young they are. In fact, I just did another draft where I only took young players, and I think I took Castro in the second or third round because of just how young/good he is at such a premium position. Rizzo has been a steal in all the drafts I have done so far, mainly because of his age and A potential, I just don't like using him because I don't like his batting stance lol. JD Martinez is a good value too considering he's an A, yet is always there in the later rounds. I love Perez personally as a C, and you got 2 A starters. One thing I don't like (not you, but the game) is that Pineda is only a B potential. The guy got injured last year and was traded for one of the top prospects in the game (Montero). I don't think it is fair to knock him so far down, but it is what it is. Anyway, that is an awesome team. I think I like your team better than mine lol.

I'm about to post the results of my second draft with the indians where I only took young players. I made such silly errors in taking old players my first time around not realizing how quickly they regress. So Papi, Mo, Halladay etc are gone this time around lol. I had the 4th pick too. I'll post real soon the results.

Re: Fantasy Draft Results Thread

Wow. I now see why I don't do fantasy drafts. Some awfully screwy AI logic in here.
