RTTS new fielding controls

I have started a new RTTS as outfilder and can't figure out how to catch a single ball. In my first game, i had 5 errors from 5 balls batted in my direction.

I understand what the positional arrow is for, i ran in the proper direction and place myself under the ball. I see it coming and the color around the ball changes, but which button should i press, how and when? Should i hold it? just press once? must it be done when the color around the ball becomes green?

Is there any manual or tutorial about the new controls?

Manual will show up under the game disc on the XMB. You can also watch the RTTS blog video for a small explanation. The button itself is L2.

As for my advice, just hold the button the entire time. There is no impact on any animations by pushing the button. The only difference is the fielder will raise his glove but drop the ball as you've already seen when not holding the button. There is zero downside to just holding the button all the time and I will just be turning off this feature because it adds nothing to the experience.
