Re: Moving your defense

It takes like 15 seconds to do it per batter, I can still finish a game in 45 minutes.

My games are considerably longer (keeping in mind I purposely don't rush the play between batters and pitches), but yeah I played a game last night where I set my defenses from the 1st inning forward and it didn't take as long as I thought. Basically I set the outfield based on each batter's tendencies so that the next time they came to the plate all I needed to do was to select their name and the outfield went to the previous alignment setting. I only varied from there when there were base runners and needed to do something different from the default alignment.

Oh and my team turn three double plays in the game and I am certain at least two of the three were the result of me being pro-active in setting my defense from the default. Would it be better if this was selected for me ahead of time to save a little time? Yes. But hey at least there option is there for us. Now if only our opponents also were using the optimal defensive alignment.

I have never played a game in 45 minutes. I'm sure if I were to just fly pass all the in between pitches and batters stuff I could but I don't want to. I want to see most of that stuff.

Re: Moving your defense

So I noticed last night that something is going on with the SS when changing your defensive alignment.

Sometimes, and I cannot figure out what triggers it, the SS gets 'stuck' in the "normal" location in the field no matter what alignment you try to move him into. As you scroll through the different options, he just stays in the default place. The other fielders are all able to be shifted around, but the SS just stays put.

I tried to shift him for a pull lefty and he wouldn't budge, but later in the game, in what I believe was an identical situation, I could shift him around properly.
Then, late in the game in a crucial situation where I wanted him shifted over again, he again wouldn't budge.

So far I've only seen this with the SS.
Is anyone else seeing this?

Re: Moving your defense

when a left-handed batter is at the plate with a runner on first base, the Shortstop has to keep his position near the bag for a sb attempt. with a runner on first and second base, the SS can hold the runner at second base.

I do agree that we should be able to move any fielder, anywhere we want too on the field, no matter what the situation. Everyone should adjust their defense. To me, it is one of the funnest parts of the game. To play the percentages of where the hitter will hit the ball.

(If you're referring to my post above...)
But the SS ISN'T near the bag, he is halfway between 2b and 3b, in the 'normal/default' SS location. And it's impossible to move him--in any direction.
I was actually trying to line him up even with 2b, and shift my 3b over to the "SS" location. But it just moved the 3rd baseman to the point he was basically holding hands with the SS.

I just ran into this problem myself today, very frustrating. And yeah, it has nothing to do with holding the runners because the 3B basically stands right beside the SS. Something is not working properly.

Re: Moving your defense

Anyone notice that there isn't an option to guard the lines? Or maybe I'm missing it, but it seems odd that it's not an option anymore.
