Re: Wow, Unbelievable Game

Gotta love how some of these games play out. You're thread inspired me to tell about the game I just had.

I sim my franchise and play when I feel like it. Anyway I simmed my way through my current season with the Rockies (2022 or something like that) and made it to game 7 of the World Series, a home game against the Rangers.

Game started off as a pitchers duel with no hits till the 4th and continued till the 6th when the Rangers got a couple of hits and scored 1 run. Then the bottom of the 6th with 2 outs I got a single followed by a HR to right to go up 2-1. The Rangers followed with a solo HR in the top of the 7th.

We then kept dueling to extra innings. Top of the 10th 2 singles cause me to bring in a new reliever as mine was tired. Fly ball out to right but runner tagged and went to third. Scored on a single so runners on 1st and 2nd w/ 1 out. Then another fly out to right and runner tagged to 3rd. So now runners 1st and 3rd w/ 2 outs.... wild pitch off my catchers glove, run scored so I am now down 4-2 while facing Bryce Harper. Managed to strike him out to end the inning.

Bottom 10 a leadoff single for my #8 hitter, I bring a rookie pinch hitting for the pitcher and what happens? 2 run HR barely over the fence in center. Now it's all tied up at 4-4.... single to right by my leadoff guy. Next batter bloops one to right and I'm thinking ok cool 2 singles but THEN the RF misplays the ball allowing my runner to round the bases and beat the throw home to win the game and the world series.

In my last game, with the Astros, I struck out 23 times and walked 11 times in 14 innings. Carlos Peņa struck out 4 times, but I hit a game winning 2 run homerun to win 6-4.

That was an unbelievable game for me.

That's a sick game man. Usually they aren't that exciting. Best game I played was a 16 inning game that got to extra innings after I shelled Mariano Rivera with the Indians for three runs in the 9th. Lost 5-4, but didn't really care about the outcome.

So true in this game that sometimes you don't care about the outcome when you shell certain dominate pitchers. I had a game where I ran up 6 in two innings against Verlander with 4 of them in the 2nd of a granny. They came back to blow my save in the 9th to win 7-8 but I still felt like I won chasing him in 2!

Re: Wow, Unbelievable Game

You're all inspiring me to share!

In 2014 with the Phillies (ended 2013 82-80 and missed the playoffs)

First game of May that I'm playing (I sim every 5) against the Marlins in PHI.

I took an early lead 4-0 through 5 but Halladay began to struggle and let a lead off triple which led to the Marlins scoring 3 on back to back HRs. So I turned to my bullpen and held the game 4-3 until the 8th. Bottom 8 and I hit a solo HR to make it 5-3 going into the 9th.

I bring in Papelbon to close it out, strike out the first 2. Next batter gets on with a single and I'm pitching for a ground ball. 0-2 count and I get my ground ball right at Utley to roll the DP. However, he overthrows the flip to Rollins covering the ball rolls to the OF and the runner moves to 3rd.

Still 2 Outs in a 5-3 game. Next batter hit's a single, runner comes in from 3rd, and puts runners again on 1st and 3rd with 2 outs. 5-4 game. Next batter hits a blooper into the OF and another run making it 5-5. At this point I am beyond furious that Utley turned the would be DP to end the game into a tie ball game. I luckily get a fly out to end the inning.

To add to my frustration I had 2 monster hits in earlier innings that might have given me a few more runs but 1 hit the very tip of the fence at dead center ( i had to watch the replay like 6 times I was dumbfounded that the ball missed by so little) and came back into the field and I had another hit the very top of the RF wall (which was a few feet short but still frustrating).

I leave Papelbon in for the 10th and he clears the side 1, 2, 3 with my 4,5,6 guys up to bat. Howard hits a lead off double. I hit a ground ball to push him to 3rd and I am beyond ecstatic that all I need is a sac-fly to win the game. Well my 7 guy comes up who had hit a solo HR earlier in the game and crushes a first pitch slider that hangs. 408 to dead center for a walk-off HR to win 7-5.

I loved watching my team stand at home plate waiting for him to come home. First time I've had that cut scene. Greatest single game I've played in the Show since I started playing in 2010.
