yea that might work for some stuff, but when I was asking for some advice on free agents signings the guys were like "that is no trade" and ignored it. Can't blame them for that since well, it actually is no trade

Barney gone for another Rookie?

It's your Franchise, but all sorts of ????????????
Gotta agree with that, A Rod and Halladay don't make much sense especially with how the regression works in the game.

I also have a Chicago Cubs Franchise going, here is what I did with the cubs, prior to Season one:

The Cubs have pretty good starting pitching in The Show, two aces with Garza and Samardzija at the top of the rotation as well as more depth than most other teams with Jackson, Baker, Wood, Villanueva, Feldman and Moscoso.
1 or even 2 of them could also be traded away to a team in need like the Rockies maybe in exchange of a decent hitter or prospect.

Their Bullpen needed some additions but that could be done easily with the remaining free agents. So I signed Brian Wilson as my closer as well as Bobby Jenks as a middle reliever. Note: Carlos Marmol is actually pretty good in the game.

Other than that the Cubs were a little thin on the bench in terms of infielders, so I added Ryan Theriot (made him my everyday 3rd Basemen) and Tyler Green.
Those additions solved that problem as well.

What do you guys think about my what I did so far, and how good could the cubs be in 2013 after those additions and if everything else comes together?

I wouldnt go THAT far, you should only expect a mid level prospect or two in return. The Rockies farm team inst very stellar IMO as most of the high rated prospects of the past have failed and often failed miserably in the majors.

yes they are desperate, and i know its fantasy etc etc, but if it was realistic, they would rather pick up scrap off the free agent heap then trade away a high level prospect for a so-so pitcher

Re: Just went through offseason with CUBS. How did I do?

After year one I would say the Cubs only need a couple of things. A couple of solid RP's and a Catcher. If your using the OSFM you would have Baez at 3B and Soler at RF/LF. That would take care of that. You could sign Cano if you wanted I guess. But the cubs are set at 1B, 3B, SS, CF, RF if your using the OSFM rosters. Use Schierholtz and Hairston either in LF or RF and that would seal up that position. They have solid starting pitching. Barney is okay but he doesn't provide the value he does in real life. Unless you just want one of the best fielding second baseman in the league and are willing to give up a little offense. Maybe sign one or two solid SP's. I traded Garza for a high B guy and got another high B SP in another trade. They will most likely be in my rotation in year two.

Everybody 35 or older will be next to worthless by July. Need to get younger.

Re: Just went through offseason with CUBS. How did I do?

This is my second year roster with the Cubs.
SP
J Smardzija
T Wood
C Villanueva
A Vizcaino
M Appel (made him with my first pick in the draft)
RP
Chang-Yong Lim(w/Cubs but out 2013 with TJ Surgery)
Heath Hembree (Rule 5 pick from Giants)
J Russell
C Breslow
A Bastardo
J Guera
K Fujikawa
INF
C M Zunino (SEA deal)
1B A Rizzo
2B T LaStella (SEA deal)
3B J Baez
SS S Castro
W Castillo
J Lake
J Vitters
OF
LF M Morse
CF B Jackson
RF J Soler

The Mariners trade I got Zunino LaStella and a MiL 2b. Gave up Morse, Barney, Almora. But I got back Morse off waivers. It would appear that I decided to go very young.
