Pickoffs
I am really impressed with the Show 14' this year. It plays great and offers a great experience. However, what is the deal with the runners being picked off? I have seen 8 runners picked off in 10 games. In that sample size, there should maybe have been 1 runner picked off. I have turned down the "Pick-off' slider to one click to attempt to remedy the issue.

Re: Pickoffs
The first game I played I saw 2 guys get picked. Since then just one, the game I just played and that was my fault. I tried to get a big lead on a lefthanded pitcher. Other then that it has been alright for me, but I know some other guys had expressed concerns over it also. -
Re: Pickoffs
Yep. I picked off three runners in one game, and threw out another two trying to steal second base. I also tend to get picked off when I try to lead off, and I usually get thrown out trying to steal.
It's pretty bad. Guessing there will be a slider to fiddle.Comment

Re: Pickoffs
Remember, you don't actually "need" to take a lead. The game is designed to make the default lead large enough to successfully steal bases. I only take extra steps with the most elite runners.Comment

Re: Pickoffs
Truth. I was trying to play the Mini-Mode Practice Running game with a speedster. Don't remember who the catcher was. I couldn't get a stolen base without getting a lead, but then I kept getting picked off or started running before the pitch came.
As usual, it's mostly my fault. But I think the default setting is way too easy to get pickoffs.Comment

Re: Pickoffs
I think i need to play more games to determine if this should be patched or not. From a pitching perspective, it seems easier to pick off runners but at the same time the 3 or so picks off I have made didn't feel cheap and the runners had an additional step off the bag. One thing I like is that if you attempt a pick off, and are eying the bag (now known as Ostrich necking when looking at 2nd), the runner will return to a normal step most of the times. I only got (well the catcher did) a 2nd base pick off attempt twice out of around 9 attempts so far and those were off fastballs thrown to the plate.
The thing that bothers me the most is the throw into the stands. I can't figure out how to stop that. I have it happen at least once per game. In theory it should happen maybe 3 times a year if that? This was an issue last year for me also.____________________________________________

Re: Pickoffs
OK after playing some more games last night, I had two successful pick offs in a game. I think the issue is more to the fact that players that have no reason to even think about stealing, due to being as slow a turtle taking a #2, are taking that "extra" step. Due to that and their poor rating they get caught. Due to thier rating they should not even be taking that step or even thinking about it. Now the higher rated players, for stealing, I rarely catch unless I get them when they jump, which is as it sould be.
TL'DR - Why are poorly rated base stealers taking extra steps for stealing____________________________________________

Re: Pickoffs
In a RTTS game earlier my player was at-bat and there was a runner on 2nd. The pitcher literally threw to 2nd 6 times in a row for the pickoff until they picked him off.
It's ridiculous.Comment

Re: Pickoffs
Had the same thing happen, but to first base. Sat there for 6 pick offs, but he eventually gave up and threw a pitch.Comment

Re: Pickoffs
I think you have to manually send them back, even on auto-baserunning?
I see it alot as well ,its with the default lead and against guys with high stealing ability.
I keep trying to remember to leave my finger on R1 to see if it helps to try and manually return them.Comment

Re: Pickoffs
You can't send them back on auto, you can't do anything, we are just gonna have to wait for it to be patched... hope it is soonComment
