I don't really plan *any* of my streaming lol. Buy-in has been tough without carryover saves, otherwise I'd be done with a full season by now.

In other news, for the first time in 27 years, I finally won a championship in one of my sim leagues! My Los Angeles Angels team--who I've been running in real-time since 2015--went 117-45 and won the World Series!

Agree!

No carry over saves is tough with a 162 game season.

It's a ton of effort to put in (for those of us who play every pitch/every inning), knowing you can prob only play 1 season before a new version of the game is released.

***I don't think Y2Y saves is coming back. ***

Re: Mike Lowe MLB The Show 23 Sliders

Hey Mike, first of all, thank you for all the effort you have put in to finding the best sliders for both simulation and gameplay and congratulations on winning the WS! 117 wins is no small feat and lucky for you MLB The Show doesn't have the curse of the 110+ win season like OOTP Baseball does. I have a Tigers franchise in OOTP baseball that won 110+ games on 5 different occasions yet only bagged one WS for their efforts.

Like you I am also a big fan of OOTPB and The Show, so in order to give your sliders a good test I imported one of my OOTPB WS champion Tigers teams into the Show and simmed a season to see if they could dominate 2023 as well. The results were quite encouraging as league totals ended up very close to real life and though my Tigers did not dominate, they were very good.

In regards to league totals, most team offensive and pitching categories were very similar to real life 2023 MLB totals with only Runs Scored and Strikeouts being a little on the low side. It would seem that if SO are down, runs would be up but that was not the case here. SO in particular were down about .75 per game played so not a huge difference.

As far as my control team of time travelling champions. lets see how they fared on offence:
OOTPB results: 108-54, RS 959, H 1704, 2B 285, 3b 40, HR 271, BB 460, SO 910, OBP .353, SLG .501
The Show: 96-66, RS 787, H 1498, 2B 343, 3B 35, HR 203, BB 497, SO 915, OBP .332, SLG .451

While still clearly a very good offensive team, they just did not have the same impact in The Show with way less hits and homeruns, pitching must be better in 2023 than in 2042 They basically went from a top 3 offense in most categories to something more like a top ten team.

How about pitching? The results came out thusly:
OOTPB: RA 623, HA 1228, HRA 203, BB 500, SO 1715, ERA 3.75
The Show: RA 573, HA 1322, HRA 176, BB 495, SO 1568, ERA 3.47

More favorable results for the pitching staff in translation as every category except HA and SO saw improvement.

All in all, these are the best sliders I have used yet and they create some very realistic and fun games to watch. Not sure why my offense turned into a bit of a dud in the translation but such is baseball. Time travel lag maybe?

For one final point of comparison that highlights the accuracy of the pitching sliders, consider Japanese ace and back to back OOTPB Cy Young winner, Shigem Takaoka.
OOTPB: 22-4, IP 194, H/9 6.8, HR/9 1.00, BB/9 1.60, SO/9 10.7, ERA 2.51, FIP 2.90, WHIP 0.93
The Show: 21-3, IP 228, H/9 7.4, HR/9 1.03, BB/9 2.25, SO/9 9.63, ERA 2.61, FIP 3.09, WHIP 1.08

Overall not quite as dominant but still good enough to win the Cy Young in the Show. Lets see how they do in the playoffs.

Thanks again for the awesome effort on sliders and keep those WS titles comin

Re: Mike Lowe MLB The Show 23 Sliders

Mike, thanks for all you do for The Show and the community!

I tried to use the Slider Tool to figure out the best sliders for:
- great defensive players standing out and players with poor defensive ratings looking foolish,
- reduced HR's,
- aggressive baserunning and stolen bases, and
- longer SP stamina

I can pitch comfortably on Hall of Fame and I hit inconsistently on Hall of Fame, but I will accept the challenge. I just want the position players that I acquire/draft to have their strengths (avg, obp, speed/SB, and great defense to stand out).
*I play every single game/pitch, never sim.

Any slider set you would suggest? If I used your latest slider set, what adjustments would you make to errors and field speed and reaction?

I guess you could classify this as an 80's style baseball desire, as I cannot stand players like K.Schwarber.

Thanks!

I'm not sure, as the app isn't really built for older eras of baseball.

Thanks for the reply Mike. I will use yours as a base and see if I can depress HR's and increase SB and defense.
I'll report back if I find a decent modification.

Mike I know this thread is old but what were you average strikeout numbers per game vs the CPU using these in 23?
