Am I the only person who would love a woman's softball game? Like College?

I saw this mentioned early in the thread. I would love this. As long as it had a good dynasty mode

So, before directing any kind baseless accusations at people, let's all understand that reality.

I have no problem with a girl being in RTTS, or even franchise (if it can be toggled) because these games are about creating our own fictional universes.

However, we often like to remind ourselves and give ourselves reality checks that us at OS and other online communities represent a minority of the audience for sports games these days. It is that reality check that, although frustrating, helps us to understand why we don't see improvements to the game modes that we like. So, it's pretty crazy that anyone would pick at people being frustrated at the fact that SDS spent development resources on an almost non-existent minority in their game while offering very little to their existing yet very frustrated audience.

Maybe, hopefully, it was a very small lift for the dev team. Just a slight change in player model and a few voice lines. It's just bad optics when a dedicated segment of the fanbase is ignored year after year (with the understanding that they don't drive revenue) and then the company markets new features for even smaller groups (significantly smaller).
This was very well said. I found it kinda crazy during the stream they said they had been building this for "years". That kind of surprised me.

The games have been targeted exclusively to men for decades, why should they have ever played before? Why shouldn't we try to include them now?

2017 is a long time ago, didn't even have WNBA in 2K yet. Also you didn't even share your source. This is nonsense.
I play single player games with woman protagonists all the time. Heck, sometimes when the option is given I make a female main character anyway.

You don't need to be in the game and represented to enjoy it. That is silly. Again, I am not saying that having the girls in the game is bad, but I am tired of the narrative that girls don't play because they never had a reason, or werent represented. Pfft.

Folks, if the argument you're making is that women shouldn't be in the game because it's not realistic.

Don't.

If the argument you're making is that it could be done better than it was.

Do.

If the argument you're making is that resources could have been allocated elsewhere.

Do, but, ya know, be careful.

If the argument you're making is that franchise mode didn't get resources because of this.

Don't. We literally have years now of the same thing happening either way.

If your post includes things like "virtue signaling" or comparing this to Marvel movies, or whatever other ways you want to try and tip toe around saying what ya really wanna say.

Don't.

I think that mostly covers it. I continue to want to leave this thread open because the discussion should happen, and this isn't THAT caustic anymore, but we're still kind of walking a fine line.

Also, let's leave "data" out of this or saying things like "look at the feedback on social platform W" -- you're in a bubble regardless of where you go (that's just the modern internet), and most platforms serve you either what you already are interested in seeing or specifically something to get you to respond (assuming the platform is even remotely good at its job).

Let's be accurate here. There have been, and currently are, women who play pro ball. If you want to say no woman is ever going to play in the majors, that's a different story. Personally, I don't think it's beyond the realm of possibility. I don't think a woman is going to hit 40 HR, but if we can have guys who are like 5'6" hitting 30+ HR and being All-Stars, I don't see why it's impossible that an exceptionally athletic woman could possibly make it. They haven't because the best female players are funneled into softball. But this isn't basketball or football where there is a certain size and speed combination that women aren't going to be able to hit. It's baseball, where that stuff matters a lot less.

But as far a pro ball, it's not a hypothetical, it's something that has actually happened.

Women also have a rich history in baseball. Here in Fort Wayne, Indiana the TinCaps are always honoring the old Daisies team. Heck I'm wearing my Daises shirt right now!

It'd be cool if eventually we get a storylines deal with that history, because real women played real baseball and most people don't know their names, but in the spirit of a discussion in another thread, if this is a way to slowly introduce something like that down the line I think it's great.
