What would you think of this idea?

How about this for a minor gameplay change?

If you have a hard throwing or wild pitcher on the mound, if you brush him off with a good inside fastball you get a slight boost in pitcher confidence and also a slight boost in your fastballs and off speed pitches.

This way you can simulate a pitcher intentionally throwing an inside fastball and brushing a hitter off or knocking him from crowding the plate and come back with a low and away change up.

Do you guys think this is a good minor game play change?

I wouldn't mind seeing a little more strategy

It sounds like you could take advantage of it and cheese it. Maybe if it only boosts for that one hitter that you pull that move, but really, you think these guys are scared to be in the batter's box? I don't.

What if it only works gives a confidence or pitch type boost ( this is already in the game ) for the next pitch?

We can also give an attribute boost to bunting when you do it to a veteran catcher! But only if he calls his shot before the scenario. Then once again after.

The game already gives attributes boosts to pitchers, if you throw a strike and even more of a bonus if you make a hitter swing and miss. Why not give out a bonus on the next pitch if a hitter throws hard and backs the hitter off the plate, just to give him a little bit of a better change up or fastball the boost would not be all that big of a deal or noticeable but if done well could help change the strategy of the at bat. Some pitchers in real life do work inside or try to scare hitters off of crowding the plate and this is something that isn't really simulated in a video game yet.

Right now pitching on the inside is effective in jamming a hitter up or giving him a smaller timing window to make solid contact ( as he needs to swing earlier to try and pull the ball to hit it well ) but what if pitching inside also included brush backs that helped to open up the outside corner.

Also what if you could set it that this feature was off, or only on against the AI computer?

The game may already do what you're talking about, loosely. If you throw up and in on a CPU batter, it will speed up their bat on the next pitch, as long as you don't make it an obvious pattern. Quite often with pitchers who feature a sweeping fastball, you can set them up on two strikes by throwing up and in, then moving onto the sweeping curve.
