every time I attempt a hit and run my runner, from first will slide into the base even if the ball is going to the gap. I have used the left stick to select the runner and press square(3rd) as quickly as I can when the ball comes of the bat, but the runner still slides into second making the hit and run kind of useless.
there has also been a few times where I'll hit a ball up the middle with a guy on second, where it looks like the fielder has a chance to get it, and the runner will slide into 3rd even if the ball gets through. turning a chance at scoring a run to nothing.
has anyone else seen this happen? any way I can stop this from happening?

Try holding down L1 as the runner approaches 2nd base.

doesn't work. L1 only seems to work after the runner reaches the base

I dont think it makes a difference but which base running style are you using?

It's really tricky this year for some reason (and has been somewhat frustrating for me) but make sure you are holding it well before your runner is anywhere near the base.

It definitely works. You can even make him stop and retreat to second, if you change your mind, by releasing L1 before he's 2 steps pass the bag. I'll post some examples if you want.

L1 works for me I can't recall the last time I had this issue or if I even had it. I can say with certainty that L1 works for me
