Playing last night, got 1st batter to 0-2 count. Next two pitches were 100% in the zone. Change up down and in to a lefty from a righty. No call. Fastball middle up. No call. Next pitch, I aimed down and away. I was perfect on accuracy. The line even blinked. Pitch went right down the middle. Double.

I'm really considering turning variable umps off. It seems to always be an 80-20 ratio in favor of the CPU.

Yeah, I can't play with variable umps since it seems more like RNG umps instead of umps actually having biases/their own zones.

I don't know if it leans to the CPU (wouldn't be surprised, just like the confidence system is "kinder" to the CPU in terms of how fast it goes up and down), but, I just think I'll leave it off until it's more nuanced and more confined to the edges (and I mean like at or near the borders, based on what I see on fangraphs data) instead of "absolute" strikes being called balls too often for the sake of "variable".

In my experience the strike zone is pretty neutral as far as CPU vs Human. I think humans tend to think they are being screwed over because of perception biases, but more importantly, because we don't take as many pitches as the CPU. The umpire, of course, only comes into play if you don't swing.

I completely agree on it being a random mess though. I find it to be better than nothing, but it needs a ton of work.
