I tend to keep a little balance, but I like to have a power bullpen.
I keep one long reliever, one pitcher with a ground ball pitch (to get a double-play if needed), a lefty and righty, a lefty and righty setup man, and a closer.
For instance, my Mariners bullpen is (not fully in line with the off-season):
LR: Karns
MR: Capps (R), Hultzen (L), Wilhelmson (R, ground ball guy)
Setup: Furbush (L), Carson Smith (R)
CL: Storen
I think a lot of it depends on your starting staff too. If you have a weaker staff that can't get late into games (or a younger staff), you will want another long relief guy. I use Hultzen as a lefty specialist and another long relief option, so he kinda takes up both roles.
My staff just happens to consist of Felix, Cliff Lee, Iwakuma, Walker, and Paxton .... so they can get pretty late into games consistently.
