I got an HDMI switch from Monoprice a few years back and experience no lag using it while playing The Show. Cost barely a few bucks.

Re: Anyone have any experience using an HDMI switch?

The potential lag that a switch will provide is negligible compared to the potential lag that a television has.

There are a few ways you can help reduce potential lag through the switch though.

1. Use as short of an HDMI cord as possible, especially between the switch and the TV. It's extremely small, but cord length DOES have an impact on response time.

2. Gold-tipped plugs: honestly there is a lot of debate over if gold-tipped plugs make a difference, and little evidence supporting either side. Luckily they don't cost that much extra.

3. Don't cheap out on the switch. Switches are generally easy peasy but a lot of companies try to cut costs by cheaping out on the circuit board (this applies to more than switches). If you want a switch that won't cause slowdowns and will last a long time, make sure you buy from a reputable brand. It's not a guarantee but it's better than buying a bargain bin electronic.

4. Don't unnecessarily overload the switch. Just be sure to turn off all other devices going into the switch when playing MLB the Show. Honestly, this shouldn't make a difference but sometimes the switch can have issues separating all of the information, causing a potential slowdown.

Again these are all likely to not have as much impact as the TV itself, but for the overly paranoid (like me), here ya go.

Fosmon HD1831 3-Port HDMI Switch with Pigtail Cable https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008GVOVK0...=operasport-20

I use this to connect my PS4, Xbox One and Wii U to my projector and I don't notice any lag. I play online quite a bit too.

I actually bought the cheapest 3 port hdmi switcher I could find and I have now had it 3 years!!

Have my PS3/PS4/360 plugged into the the three ports and haven't noticed any lag on any of my baseball games although the input lag on my tv is very low.

Automatically switches between the consoles as well which is a big plus.

Got mine on ebay over here in the UK and it looks like this:

Sure you will be able to get something similar in the USA!!

I've used this one for the last 4 years, with no issues. It's in my theater now on my projector and I've even used it for 3D gaming with no ill-effects. There's also a 3-port version, I believe:

Kinivo 501BN Premium 5 port High speed HDMI switch with IR wireless remote and AC Power adapter - supports 3D, 1080p

I have this one too and never noticed a difference in lag. My hitting stinks with or without this! Seriously tho never had a problem with it.
