Re: Umpires tendency/opinion

Woody Keller is easily the most inconsistent ump that I've faced thus far. Fastball high out of zone a strike and next pitch ball is in zone high and he calls it a ball. Really hard to hit with him behind the plate because you don't know what is a strike and what isn't.

Freddie Ferguson is my favorite thus far. His low strike zone is so pitcher friendly.

Re: Umpires tendency/opinion

I honestly dont know how it can be too much different from last year. In 15 i turned umpires off to make the strike zone perfect. however i still found myself looking at the k-zone after a pitch(i play clean screen) and seeing that a breaking ball that was 80% in the zone was still called a ball. Ive been one of the advocates for 2 years now that they extend the outside and inside corners by 1/2 or atleast 1/4 baseball's width so that it still looks the same in the k-zone, but it is still larger than before. I will be impressed if there are umps that call strikes when the entire ball is just outside the corner. That is the day ik they have the k-zone right. Just my 2 cents. Ill decide for myself after i finish spring training whether I want umps on or off.

Re: Umpires tendency/opinion

The umpire tendencies are no joke. Some of the calls had me baffled and annoyed but after learning where the ump was calling strikes, I was able to take advantage of it to my benefit for a while. I guess the frustration part is what players and coaches feel on some close calls in the MLB. I like it.

Re: Umpires tendency/opinion

Either Karros or Lyons mentions Matthew Ross is generous with pitchers, & how he will call strikes on the black, and even off of it. I will keep my eye open if they are correct in their assesment.
