Directional Hitting Question

Any help appreciated here. I have been using direction hitting and making my guy "focus" on hitting the ball to different areas. When he swings and after each pitch it shows the result my guy is always swinging in the middle part of the plate according to the graphic in the bottom right of the screen. With directional
Hitting, do the players ever swing down at the bottom of the zone, or on the outside corner? Hope this question makes sense. Thanks!

Re: Directional Hitting Question

The PCI in the swing analysis feedback is locked. There is a PCI operating under the hood.

Your answer:

Is right above. No need for me to link the post since he's right here.

Nem is one of the guys who regularly goes to community day and is in contact with the devs, he knows what he's talking about.

Re: Directional Hitting Question

I am playing in ALLSTAR setting with Directional Batting.
I seemed to struggle for a while as I was concentrating too much on "Directing" the shot , rather than just relaxing and focusing on "Timing"

Its bloody gorgeous though!

Re: Directional Hitting Question

Thanks so much guys! Apologies for asking probably a dumb question...but the PCI is plate coverage indicator correct? And with that being locked, even though the swing analysis tells me my guy is swinging down the middle every single time, you're saying that really isn't the case?

It's not really a pci in directional hitting. Think of it more like an effective coverage indicator. The closer the ball is to the center of it, the more likely you are to get solid contact. It's not a garuntee either way, but if you swing at a pitch outside that indicator, odds are fairly good it will be a bad result.

Directional hitting is an extension of timing hitting, so your main driving force is timing pitches to hit. With it being a timing only based mechanic the timing window is constricted for added challenge. The direction of influence helps you get the desired hit result granted certain parameters fall into place. If you swing at a pitch outside of your direction of influence you still make contact because the mode is timing based but your desired hit type might not be achieved.

So in summary don't worry about a PCI because you don't have ultimate control of it, just concentrate on your timing. Also, I find directional is best used as a situational tool rather than trying to influence every pitch.
