Why can't I leave an online franchise?

I get this weird message:

" Strike! The league has already started setting up its teams so changing them at this point is not allowed"

It's weird because this league has been abandoned by a deadbeat commissioner and there are only a few afk teams left. I want to leave but I can't. When I try to abandon, i get that dumb message

Anyway to get around this?

When the original commissioner left one of the users left became the commish, you half to get that person to drop you form league or everyone drop out and the last person can abandoned league.
