An offensive struggle as pitching dominated this one. We got a great start from Duffy as he only gave up 3 hits in 7 full innings. His only mistake pitch of the game was crushed for the eventual game winning 2-run homer. Perez and Orlando had 5 of our 6 total hits. Ready for opening day at the K against the A’s, and the start to our first home stand.

In third place behind the Nationals and Mets. Nationals are 9-3, Mets are 8-6. To start off the season I was surprised as we came out and swept the Mets at Citi Field despite the dominant trio of Syndergaard, Degrom, and Harvey. The work of that surprising sweep was quickly undone though as we would immediately be swept ourselves in the next series against Pittsburgh on the road. We followed that by splitting the 2 game set in Miami. Then we split the 4 game series against the Padres in the opening series of SunTrust Park.

Unfortunately back on 4/9 SP Julio Teheran had to be placed on the DL with a broken hand. He's out for 1-2 months. Called up Matt Wisler to replace him. The pitching hasn't been great, pretty much what you would expect. R.A. Dickey has been a nice surprise so far with 7 SO's, a 1.38 ERA, and a 0.85 WHIP. The only relievers who stand out as performing badly are Eric O'Flaherty and Jim Johnson.
O'Flaherty has given up 10 hits and 5 runs in 4.1 innings pitched. Jim Johnson has given up 14 hits and 7 runs while blowing 3 saves.

Dansby Swanson has been on fire with a 357 AVG and a 440 OBP with 15 hits and 6 RBI's. Brandon Phillips has been producing nicely with a 327 AVG. Freeman is second in the NL in HR's with 6. The offense has been pretty decent.

Already have a pretty set plan for the deadline unless the team really out performs expectations. Very likely going to be moving Kemp and Markakis to get rid of their contracts. Don't really care if I get anything much back. Their still pretty good pieces for a contender. Will probably keep Colon and Dickey since they likely won't have much value anyway.

Up next is a 3 game series against the Nationals at SunTrust.
I simmed through the first year of my braves season and was able to get a good amount of B potential guys for a lot of the aging roster. Braves are definitely a fun team to rebuild because of the value in guys like Dickey and Colon. Plus they both retired at the end of the year so I got all the loot for free.

You couldn't afford him? Throw us a bullpen arm and he's yours lol. I can never play with him. He always hits a few homers but it's only once every blue moon he gets a hit. The blue Jays already have a lot of poor contact guys so he doesn't fit imo. Let's hope Loney puts the bat on the ball more.

Go the lineups and rotations tab and move the right analog stick left or right to scroll your AA,AAA,and MLB lineups/rotations.

We're broke, I traded for Rendon last year because we were at the bottom of the league in HRs. (On 15).

I wanted to keep him for sedimental reasons.

What's up guys? I'm a huge franchise mode fan and I'm having trouble who to decide to run with. I want a challenge of building a team but someone who hasn't been completely relevant in recent history if that makes sense? any ideas?? Marlins? Yankees? Dbacks?

Re: MLB The Show 17 Franchise Discussion Thread

10 games into my franchise with the Padres and we sit at 3-7. We won 1 of 3 against the Dodgers. For the home opening series we won the opener with a 7-4 victory over the giants. Solarte had 2 HR and Schimpf hit the game winner. We then went on to lose four straight games and finished off the Rockies series with a W.

Hot and Cold
Chacin is 0-2 with a 6.30 ERA
Clayton Richard is 0-2 with 1.98 ERA and a WHIP of 0.88 (could be trade bait)
Manuel Margot .167/.324/.200
Will Myers .263/.317/.447 2HR
Hunter Renfroe .125/.216/.281 1HR
Ryan Schimpf .125/.120/.280
Yabgervis Solarte .321/.367/.571

Overall we are last in batting average with .192 strikeouts, 29th in OBP. Team ERA is good for 17th in the league at 4.20. We made a minor trade, we sent Luis Sardinas to the Reds for Zach Walters to get some pop off the bench and we signed Josh Willingham. Next 10 games are @ATL, vsARI, vsMIA. after every 10 games I'll have an update.
